Samsung A12 wifi issues

[Android Central Question]

My son has a Samsung A12 and is having wifi issues. We have FTTP fitted and speeds of 120mb+ yet his phone tops out at 40mb at most

Is anyone else having this issue?

Welcome to Android Central! What kind of router do you have, and how well does it cover your house? 5 GHz wi-fi has faster throughput than 2.4 GHz, but has worse range, so if he's a couple of rooms away from the router or nearest access point, the speeds won't be the same as if he were right next to the router.

Also, if you have a wi-fi repeater or a mesh wi-fi system, speeds will typically be lower when connecting to the repeater or one of the access points as opposed to the main router.
