Howdy All!

I'm trying to figure out my options when it comes to possibly purchasing the Galaxy Note.
I have a hang-up with getting the Note 2 when the Note 3 is right around the corner.

I know that the near-confirmed suspicion is that the Galaxy Note 3 will be announced on September 3rd, during their IFA Event.
Does anyone have an idea from previous years, typically how long after the announcement the new devices actually are released from the carriers?

The reason I ask is because I am on a time sensitve purchase. I am trying to figure out about how long after the announcement I would have to wait before I can buy.

Thanks for any insight!

The Note should be available in September. Most newer devices come out for Back to School. The 2 was released in late September last year. However, if that is too long to wait, the Note 2 is a very solid device. It is approaching the end of it's life being released last year, meaning support for it will end in about a year, perhaps longer. That only matters if you want to keep somewhat up to date with the current version of Android. The downside to the Note 3 is since it is new hardware, there may be bug that would have to be patched in the first few months of it's life.

Good luck choosing a device. Hope to see you in the forums later!

It really depends on who the carrier is you use. If its an international carrier expect it in late September, if its AT&T & T-Mo you could expect it in October, Verizon and a few others figure on late November into December. Verizon loves to be last.

Yeah, I preordered the note 2 last year and it didn't come until almost the last sec in November....so annoying.

I read a few rumors today that gave me enough will and determination that I am sending back my GS4 tomorrow. It's fully restored, boxed up and going back tomorrow. By the time the GN4 launch happens I should have my refund and upgrade on my account.

Rumors are: 1) No 16GB version at all, nada, zippo, no deal Monty. That means 32GB is the new base standard at Samsung (if true) but it makes sense. After the massive blow back on the GS4 16GB version and the sheer lack of internal storage combined with the GN2 sheer lack of storage and pissed off users Samsung may be trying to counter the stupid US carriers desire to go cheap on storage and high on price. The cost difference isn't enough for Samsung not to go this route.

Rumor: 2) I read today that it's possible Verizon could be first on the US launch. Now they are always dead last on every single stinking launch. If, that is a HUGE IF Verizon is first then they are certainly paying to do so. However it seems like Samsung is really pushing to get their products out the door and one up LG. Announce on 9-4, ship within 2 weeks internationally and US say within 4 weeks and even if Verizon is last they could be end of October to mid November. But they better not make me wait that long.

Where did you hear that VZW was getting it first? Hell hath not frozen over? I contemplated getting the Note 2 last year but I held off. I am making the jump this time though, as long as I like what I see at the Sept 4th event. Hopefully they will live stream it again.

I've got an upgrade 10/17, and VZW has some cool phones to choose from finally (HTC One, Moto X & Droids, S4, and hopefully the Note 3).

Leaning towards Note 3 (I like the expandable storage and you know Seidio will come out with extended battery and case). Now if Big Red gets it first, my jaw will drop, I will giggle, and possibly tinkle in my pants a little.

I did say it was a rumor, but here is the site Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will likely hit Verizon first - Los Angeles Gadgets | Examiner.com and while the temps in NY are going from hot to cold to hot I haven't seen the devil with ice skates on so I don't buy into the rumor, just hoping it is possibly true. I mean Verizon is getting the G2 before AT&T, even if it's 1 day its still before AT&T. Verizon has the money to make things happen and anything could happen for us.

I sent my GS4 packing today so I am without a smartphone and will be in real need by the time its announced and hope for a quick release, yet sadly I am expecting Verizon to drag it out like normal and make us wait until EOM in November. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

What was funny at the end of the article, they said VzW might offer unlimited data with the Note 3. I almost busted my spleen in laughter.

You never know, Samsung has done the DropBox promo (Verizon and A&T both skipped it) so it could be a special promo good for the contract term or a special amount of time say 3-6 months to get people off of unlimited and onto a mobile share plan because once you go off of it you are done.

Lol if they do a full unlimited plan for 2 years I will buy a note 3. I have no desire for one, but if they do unlimited date I will get one just for that.

Looks like Verizon launched a new promo to try and entice the unlimited users with a 6GB & 8GB plan so somehow this speculated offer is more air than substance . . . sad to say.
