First off:
Hello everyone! I having been roaming amongst you for the past two weeks looking for your answers to all of my questions. Everyone has been very helpful thank you!

As soon as I received my Samsung Captivate I immediately started sideloading apps that were already downloaded and good to go. CHEERS to Android Central and your Wonder Machine, not a problem yet after 65 apps! :)
First app was MixZing, I instantly fell in love with it. I think the stock music player looks a little cleaner, but lacks the equalizer. I was using 2010 Skullcandy Smokin Buds and it really made them shine for $17.
The day I bought my phone on eBay (It was slightly used, some scuffs on the edges tiny scratch to left of screen) I also bought some Beats By Dre headphones. The Tours, his signature ear bud headphones. Amazing deal on these! I swooped in at the last 2 seconds and stole em.
They are obviously fake, even the dealer confessed but I decided to give them a try. MixZing needed some obvious tuning. These headphones sound extremely muffled but with some tweaking of the higher frequencies and raising the lower end and bringing the middle section to a bridge, I have acquired some booming buds.
If you can get them cheap, I highly recommend it. Taking the time to adjust the balance of power given to these headphones is worth every cent.
I spent no more than $300 for these items, is that a victory? :-$

I am however, hesitant to rooting my phone. Although the process seems very beneficial Im worried that its not completely stable. Cant be having a bricked phone as beautiful as this

Congrats on the purchases, as for rooting, you can do it and keep your stock rom and stock everything else.

right, just in case something goes wrong. But honestly im so *** that I probably will mess things up a lot lol
Is it really worth it?
I wouldn't mind removing some bloatware but I have two apps that kill all applications so that doesn't bother me. As for memory, the Captivate had about 13GB free when I got it, completely stock. And I have a 16GB microSD, so I'm set for now. I have 65+ Apps (Will probably delete 3/4 of them lol) and about 9GB of music and have TONS of room.

What other ways will rcooting help me out? Instead of having administrative control over the device, I get that
