Samsung Charge HDMI out audio problem

I have filed a bug report at android developement site
here

ran into a problem with Samsung media. I had a 25 dollar credit so i DL'ed 2 movies and when i plugged my hdmi cable into my television HDMI slot the screen read HDMI blocked during Protected Content Playback.. crap i paid for the movies and now can not put them on a big screen .. and as for protected content i bought the darned thing.. anyone have any answers to my problem??? please take a moment and help me get that PVY changed to something usable..
i have DL'ed MP4's that i made and could watch them on anything.but Samsung Media Hub is stupid.
and nope the hub gave no options as to what format i wanted

Same problem with blocked content over the hdmi when playing Samsung Media Hub movies. Very Apple of them. I used my $25 credit to buy two movies to watch on the phone and that will be it from me. I expect this limitation will kill off the app in short order. There are too many other unrestricted movie sources available to put up with this.

I'm in the same boat - same deal with NFL network.

I read somewhere that you can extract the downloaded file, but I have not figured how. then, you can convert it to a different format.

right now, our only method is to complain to Samsung to lift the block.

I am currently able to run HDMI through my LG TV and / or my LG home theater system using a cable from radio shack. The only issue that I am having is with Media Hub. Rented movies won't play through HDMI. Does anyone know of a work around? Movies that I load directly to my phone from my pc work GREAT!

I Have the same problem with Samsung Media Hub.. a msg appears saying Hdmi is blocked for protected video.. blah blah..
welp i got piffed and called Samsung and told them i paid good money for a movie although the credit pd it.. i said i could have gone to Wall Mart bought the same movie for same price and stuck it on my phone and played it on my cell or anywhere else,, she suggested i call Verizon for a credit and i agreed so i could go to samsungs store maybe fiond something usefull.
welp called verizon they cant give a credit till they get the bill and then might give me a credit but figured since it was a freebie, i couldnt get anything else..

so to all interested any movie you buy rent etc from media hub will have the HDMI blocked for protected content..(the movie) they got me once they wont get me a second time...

however, the Samsung media hub does have tv shows for $0.01 - can't really beat that.

what is interesting though, I was able to get the video out when viewing a movie preview....

Pick up one of these:

Or wait till I get mine to test it out first for quality.

My guess is what may be happening to you is the "unpowered" signal is probably so weak to that particular TV's input sensing circuitry it's reverting back to the Hotel's default channel cause it thinks nothing is plugged in after 6 min.

You will be able to view Netflix on most Hotels TV's too with the converter because it has S-Video or RCA's to TV's that don't have HMDI in.
Read the user reviews of the device on Amazon, "most" are happy with the pic quality through S-Video or RCA's.

I just ordered one for myself. I see them already rising in price probably due to demand as soon as the Droids got Neflix because I paid $47 with free shipping last week.

Tip: don't order from "Electronics Pro". They shipped it to me yesterday, but it now says "SHIPPING FROM HONG KONG" estimated delivery Aug 16th to Sept 1st".

* This is a bad business for this re-seller because they should have noted in description where it's shipping from like the others do.

My Brother who just got his came in 3 days from CA. I see another vedor shipping from NJ (and I live in NY).

I'm going to pay the extra few dollars, order another one from one of the other vendors and refuse delivery for the one shipping from HONG KONG. I always "hate" dealing with any of Amazon's re-sellers, but Amazon will credit me back if this seller does not refund my money quickly for the refused unit.

Wish I had read your comments on Amazon.
I spent hours trying to find out why I wasn't getting a picture when using the converter box.

I wanted to PM you, but being new, I can't PM until I get 5 posts. :(

jco23:
I can't find any $0.01 tv shows on the Samsung Media Hub. Where did you find them?

Thanks,
Rich

I took a second look but all I saw were $1.99 per episode and above. No one cent deals. I didn't look at every episode but maybe I'm just not looking in the right place. Not a big fan of Sponge Bob anyway.
