Just went into a retail BB location and they have the Epic for $229.99 for new activations starting tomorrow. This conflicts with the earlier dummy-phone photo, so here is a photo ....

I was always confused about that too.
Its a much easier sales pitch to the average customer.... "Sir, I can save you $420 off the retail price". As opposed to $150 or $200, whatever the case may be elsewhere.

Probably because it's free money when someone forgets to do their rebate or does something to make themselves ineligible. The only reason places like Best Buy and Radio Shack don't make you deal with the rebate is because they basically pay the upfront cost for you and get the rebate refund from Sprint later.Now on another note why doesn't sprint ( or any other carrier ) just eliminate rebates and keep other people/companies out their pockets?
