Samsung finally has done something that only apple has done...

Mr. HTC The One strikes again... *rolleyes*

So I'm not the only one who remembers him exacerbating this very same thing last year. It doesn't lag, Kevin. It's just slightly slower than your favorite toy. Not enough to create the hilarious proclamations you've made over and over again here, but hey; the M8 has to be better at something, right?

While the S5 is great, I disagree with the title of the thread.
I don't mean to come off as a troll from WPCentral but the WP8.1 delivers all of the above. Lag free, super fast, battery life, swipe key, keyboard emojis...etc all working perfectly even on low end devices like the 520.
So yeah, the S5 is great(no doubt about it), but not only Apple and Samsung are achieving this feat right now :).
Glad you're happy with your device though (as I am with my 1520 running WP8.1 :) )

People tend to forget about the massive size of the United States and it might be easier and quicker to move to LTE in a country like Germany which is slightly bigger than the state of New Mexico. Also in relation to population, you have about 85 million people in Germany in such a small location so it easy to reach the masses when there isn't that much to distance deal with.

On the marketing thing.

Tmobile started to market HSPA + as 4g a few years ago. In response ATT started to do the same.

Neither of them called it LTE.

Both of them (T-Mobile being slower until the fail ATT merger gave them capacity) moved over to LTE (Tmobile isn't done yet, ATT is closer to completion). Verizon never went in that direction and went directly to LTE. Sprint has gone into 3 different directions with the final version being LTE.

LTE as it was planned does exist now. LTE-A is the next step. But there aren't many networks or phones that support it yet, even overseas.

If you consider a skin that feels bogged down, glitchy, lags, hiccups with any minute task like apple, then you sire must be used to using crap android phones that run gingerbread.

Oh, they do have emojis now. The swipe keyboard even suggest emojis too. For example, if you type happy, a smiling emoji appears in the suggestion pane and so on.

Anyways, let me not derail the thread. Happy for your S5!

The att s5 supports lte-a with carrier aggregation.

FYI, certain posts in here have taken on the wrong tone and those members were contacted and/or give warnings for their comments. Moving forward lets not entertain any of the obvious heated comments already in this thread and continue a snowball effect.

We love to hear you continue to debate and have your moment to elaborate but please do so without taking things to a personalized level against one another. Base you debate on facts or opinions of the device or feature and not at each other.

Thank you.

As someone who goes on WPC aren't there dozens of threads complaining about battery life in WP8.1? Also it definitely isn't lag free my L520 is getting those "Loading" dots a lot more than it did it WP8

Yeah, there are threads with people complaining about battery life. But there are also comments saying a soft reset would fix it. As for the lag, some people say their phone got faster, to some it got slower. These are frequent issues with the launch of something(especially when this is a beta version of the 8.1).
I've had none of the said problems with my device. Maybe it's cause it is high end. But I have a couple of friends who haven't had any issues whatsoever with the 8.1 (except the horrible Xbox music app). Like I said, I don't wish to derail this thread. Maybe we should discuss this further on WPCentral forums or using PMs.
Sorry about the problems you're facing with the WP8.1 update

I actually felt that the S3 was the first break-through phone in this regard...but things do keep getting better.

Frankly, I install NOVA because I prefer it over TouchWiz' launcher (for several reasons).

One thing I do love about this platform is that even if we don't NEED to seek out 3rd party alternatives to improve the experience with the phone, those options are available and plentiful.

There's no such thing as LTE, it's a marketing gimmick.

You sure about that?

Here's LTE vs non LTE. I had to do it on my iPhone 5s because my GS4 doesn't give me the option of turning off LTE.

However, my GS4 did get get faster LTE speeds than my iPhone 5s on LTE.

I still say that it's a marketing gimmick. ...if you live in an area where not many are using the same tower, I would expect it to be fast and for some people, 3g is faster than so called lte.

Verizon and Sprint 3G aren't anywhere near as fast their LTE is. Never. Anywhere they overlap.

I can personally also vouch for AT&T 3G not being as fast as LTE anywhere both are available.

Is there anything you can point to that says LTE in its current implementation isn't actual LTE? Like an article on a reputable website or something?

A marketing gimmick would be something like when AT&T decided to call their HSPA+ network "4G" when in fact it wasn't (and still isn't). That's still completely separate from their 4G LTE network, though.

Huh? I just showed you LTE vs non LTE and I did not move so it should have stayed on the same tower on the tests.

Saying LTE is just a marketing gimmick is like saying my Comcast broadband internet is just a marketing gimmick because dial up can be just as fast depending on location.

You can call it a gimmick but facts are it is faster. I'm in Jacksonville and I can be anywhere in the city... And get lower speeds on 3g (which is called 4g or HSPA) than I do on my LTE.... And mind you Jacksonville is the largest city land mass wise in the contential US.... So our towers don't get as saturated with users like a New York City tower would....

Examples below. First is LTE next is just 3g (or 4g HSPA as it's called). I'm sorry but this is faster and my LTE usually always is. If my signal on LTE equals that of my HSPA in that area LTE trumps it every time.

So you are stating it's a gimmick.. Which you can do since if that's your opinion... Well it's your opinion... But fact wise LTE is faster technology than HSPA. As Kevin stated Sprint 3g and Sprint LTE is a huge example of this.. The difference is drastic.
