Hello, my a3 2017 doesn't charge. Yesterday the moisture notification came on, i had 20% battery.
I restarted the phone, but the phone turned off and never turned back on. i put the charging cable, the phone turned on with 90% battery but it wasn't charging. I've made a backup and tried to restore to factory, but when it shuts down to restore, it doesn't turn back on.
I've left the phone plugged in over the night, even if it wasn't charging but the battery didn't exceed 90%. Tried to connect to pc but it says that the usb is broken, or something.
Every time I shut down the phone, I can't turn it on with the power button. It turns on only with the charger cable.
The phones works fine, only it doesn't show charging, the moisture notification is gone, but the battery level it's not the real one.
Any ideas before i take it to warranty? (sorry if i made some spelling mistakes, English it's not my first language)
Thank you!

Welcome to Android Central! The port may have been damaged by moisture at some point, so it probably has to be replaced. Be aware that your warranty probably won't cover water damage.

Hi rspau26,

I have a galaxy A3 2017 and have had the exact same symptoms you experienced with your phone (thanks for the nice description). My advice is as follow (i recovered my phone's full functionality and performance)
1. Technically the galaxy A3 is classified IP68. This is its index of enclosure (see here for more details IP & IK Classifications) so basically it should withstand total immersion for low pressure.
2. The enclosure standard doesnt cover chemicals present in/with water (salt, chlorine, etc.)
3. It is very likely that your device is completely dry from the inside. Meanwhile, it is also very likely that your charging/usb port is altered by residual chemicals that alter its electric characteristics.

SOLUTION:
-------------
In short : clean it.
In reality : depending on the severity of the chemicals involved (least concerning are residues present in plain water, more concerning ones are salt and chlorine that actually will irreversibly corrode port terminals)
To prevent permanent damage and restore usb port capabilities you need to clean port thoroughly asap. If needed, use pure ether, white spirit or 100% alcohol. Be careful, 90% alcohol is diluted with substances like water that might actually worsens the situation.
Using a fine (very fine and hard) brush you would do the job assisted only with an air blower. You guessed it : no need to blow hot air. Cool air will just do the job while protecting your device from overheating.
Another important thing to do : let your battery drop below 40% (i know it boots up at 90% but it will drop later if you use it) and charge it with original charger (1550 mA) for no more than 45 minutes to keep it alive (it actually charges even if it doesn't show it does, u'll feel the battery warmth).
After a few cleanups, the moisture alert will show up again and your phone will be able to turn on without plugging it into charger.

Keep gently (use extreme care) cleaning the port until you recover computer connectivity through usb.

Keep me informed (i just love my A3).

well i went to a repair shop he said it was something else and it was pure coincidence that it happened after i dropped it thanks for the answer anyways
