Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 - Pre ordering?

I always back up my layouts with Nova Prime. When the Fold 2 fired up Google asked me which device I wanted to restore from. I chose the latest device. That copies all my apps and most settings. I then go into Nova and tell it which icon pack layout I want to restore and that restores my desktop precisely. There may be other ways to do restores but that gives me the granularity I'm accustomed to.

Beautiful pics of the phone from everyone... they really got the design right on the 2nd gen and the front screen, no plastic border on the display, etc... looks nice.

@tadpoles Can I ask when you basically setup your Fold 2 with your Note device?? ... Can you tell me your steps in doing a restore of a backup on a new phone??

I've done it before on my Note 8... erasing it, then during initial setup I am logged into my Samsung account and then Google account and I do through options that I think restore the Samsung backup and then the Google backup... and I never feel confident on the restore because even with restores from two sources its never complete... like when I restore any of my iOS devices like my iPad Pro 11"... if you ever do a backup and then restore of an iOS device... it's an exact image of basically the last website, under the last tab in safari you were look at... with all logins and passwords intact and the brightness lever of your display... so complete.

So on the N20U I decided not to mess with it and just do clean install and manually install and enter everything back in except maybe the contact from Google and Secured Folder restore from Samsung backup. Almost a few weeks in and I think I have it restored.

But wanted to get a persons account of how they did it... you didn't mention Samsung Backup so wondered if you just use only Google backup/restore?? But that wont include Secured Folder restore. I wonder what guys like Flossy do when they get new units to setup their phones by doing restores and feel confident that it's identical when they move from one phone to another... because I couldn't seem to do that with my Note 8. Thanks for any info.

Dang it. I said I wasn't gonna get suckered in as I'm happy with the N20 Ultra but you guys had to keep posting pics of your Folds in this thread. Black Fold 2 reserved for pickup at Best Buy. I seriously have a problem :/

I'm sure there are better/easier ways but I do the Google restore and the Samsung restore. It always offers both so I just do both. I figure that's restoring my apps and many/most settings. Once Nova is restored I just pick which backup I want to restore (icon pack and widget layout) and then I'm finished. Normally takes 20-30 minutes.

We do need a case though...

Samsung says my case should be here next Wednesday. I do hope it comes a bit early.

Those of you with the N20 Ultra, do you see yourself keeping the Fold 2 or going back to the N20 or keeping both?

Yeah I got Fold 2 as a supplemental device, not sure if I'm at a stage to use any foldable as my only device.

Mine just got updated to delivery for tomorrow. I was so close to cancelling. I'm on the fence because I really want the Pixel 5. I guess I'll try it out. It's mainly about the cameras for me. If the camera quality isn't up to my standards it's gotta go. I'm shocked there aren't many camera reviews up yet.

Get the pixel and send me your fold 2 lol

I'm just not sure. The Fold 2 is slippery indeed. Its fun to play with but if I could only have one I think the Note 20U would be the better choice for me. Within the next 7-9 days I'll decide if it can be a serious device for me that I can confidently take everywhere (well its not IP68 rated so I know I can't confidently take it everywhere)...but can I take it enough places and have it hold up unscathed? Its a neat device but it doesn't offer the utility of the Note 20U so we'll see.

I tend to use each of my phones for a few days and then move the SIM card into the next unit. I still have to see if I have enough confidence in the Fold 2 to do this. I already know I wouldn't take it for my morning workouts like I can with any of the other devices. This week, so far, I've been carrying two devices. When I have to go out I take another phone. When I get my case for the Fold 2 I'll see how I feel about taking it out and about. That's what will ultimately decide whether I keep this intriguing unit.

Got the same email, they just basically said we're out, and have no idea when we can ship. I was not happy with that. Canceled my order and ordered one from Verizon, cheaper and says will ship 10/2, we shall see. I also ordered the leather from Verizon, shows to be here Tuesday.

Yeah doubt even Verizon will ship the Kevlar ones. I'll try to see locally if I can find the leather case to pick up. If not I may have to use it without case for some more time.

First hiccup with this device. Been enjoying it all day no issues then I get in my truck and try to connect it to my usb c port and it starts going haywire dinging like crazy and gives a message saying the usb connection is unstable. Plugged my note 20 ultra back in and no issues. Tried multiple usb c cables and no luck. It eventually stopped dinging and continued to charge but it won't establish a connection with the truck infotainment center for android auto. This could potentially be a deal breaker for me as I cannot do without android auto.

I have the Note 20 ultra 5G . My fold is on order because I got the colored hinge but I’m keeping both . I traded in my iPhone 11 max for the fold . Hope I don’t regret it . Lol

That's likely going to be the move I make if I keep the Fold. I love the 11 Pro Max but not more than the N20 Ultra.
