Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Future) Owners Club

Just got this email from Clove:

Thank you for placing an order for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Up until today we had been expecting to receive more stock of the Galaxy Nexus on Friday 25th November, but unfortunately the stock has now been delayed. We now expect stock to arrive at the beginning of next week and we expect to ship orders on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th November.

We will receive enough stock next week to cover all outstanding orders and look forward to shipping your order as soon as possible.

Yeah so that's that.

I got mine today from Handtec. Posting from it now. Got the volume issue but I knew that would happen :(

Its rather beautiful though...

I guess Handtec will be getting their stock in on Tuesday as well, then. I hope Google/Samsung release the update over the weekend.

Got mine (from Handtec) earlier today. Even though I'm using 900MHz but it's on 3G and so far haven't experienced the volume down issue yet.

So far loving it. Despite it performs very poorly when I use some "interactive" Live Wallpaper (perhaps it's not yet optimized?). Also by going into the Developer's Options in Settings and enable Forced 2D Hardware Acceleration option, things are significantly faster.

Can anyone that previously used an iphone 4 (or 4s) and has used a Galaxy Nexus comment about how "smooth" the transitions are between home screens, zooming in and out in the internet app, and other similar effects? I love Android, but after recently using the iphone 4s for several weeks, it's tough to go back to the somewhat jerky movement of the internet browser and other UI elements.

Thanks

What are you using for a charger? Did you just grab a standard Micro USB to charge the phone? I guess you can charge it over USB from a computer.

I used an iPhone 4 before, and from I think transitions are as smooth most of the time. The lag can be experienced in the apps tray at times. Certain apps will have ty scrolls due to forced software rendering. General UI: smooth, but not as smooth as the 4S still. (But note that Android has "true" multitasking where the iPhone 4S doesn't)

The new task switching plane (the new one introduced in ICS), the browser and Maps compared to even iPhone 4 lags a lot most of the time but significantly smoother than my former device HTC Sensation. But overall usage, if you come from an Android phone, you will LOVE it. If from iOS or WP7, it is bearable now.

I think the problem now most of the time lies where 3rd party app developers will have to fix their apps. It's no longer Google's fault if you experience lags in 3rd party apps.

I used my old HTC Sensation charger, which gives out 5A just like the charger that comes with the Galaxy Nexus.

Received my Galaxy Nexus this morning from Expansys USA.

It's big. Coming from a Galaxy S2 I didn't think it would be that big of a difference but it definitely takes some getting use to.

If you don't mind can you please explain that further.
Thanks.

Thanks.

It feels much bigger than the Galaxy S2 in hand. Some actions can be difficult with just one hand.

Some other notes:

Battery life: So-So. Not as good as Galaxy S2. Screen is eating up most of the battery.
Facelock: About 30 percent success ratio. Seems like more of a gimmick than useful feature
OS: Solid. No complaints. Very smooth.

Finally got my tracking number from handtec! Supposed to arrive on the 30th but I highly doubt it will ship from the UK to Florida in one night. Although FedEx doesn't have my GN yet it's good to see some progress with my order :D

Make sure you check the weight of the box before signing and if it's be pre-open. Sounds stupid, but someone seems to gotten his Nexus stolen that way, by a FedEx employee.

That would suck since I'm out of town and my leasing office had to sign for it today. Oh well, guess I'll find out tomorrow

aaaaaand i've been postponed again, I'll only have it by next monday, IF I'm lucky that is... apparantly samsung doesn't have enough galaxy nexus' to go around, the shops delivery got delayed...

I got a good surprise yesterday. I checked the tracker to see where the phone was and it said NYC ( I live in Colorado). I went home and checked the mail and there was a delivery notice saying that they had it, I just needed to sign or go get it. I opted to go pick it up :P amazing phone!
