Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - Anyone else wish they bought the galaxy S4 instead?

I don't like Beats :(

I found them to be better than the average headphones that come with most cell phones, and miles and miles better than the ones that came with my VERIZON N3.......(no headphones from the cheap bastages at Verizon btw).

I don't use the ones that come out of the box. I have the headphones shows as my avatar. Far better than Beats ;)

I'm a little bit of an audio snob. I've been through a lot of headphones and a few headphone amps. ...got my HeadRoom Total BitHead ready for portable duty to drive my Senn HD595s. ...much better than what they used to include in the box...when they used to include earphones.

I wouldn't say I'm an audiophile but I appreciate good sound quality. Need to get myself some Sennheisers too :)

There's so many good choices, and you don't really have to spend a lot to get good sound. You don't need a headphone amp really, me thinks. Sennheisers can be nice but there's so many choices...anything but Beats, really.

There's a lot of good sounding cans but most of them are also kind of "funky-looking" I guess. The M50s look nice and they were only $140 on eBay. I want some that I can use in public, The Senn 598s are nice looking and I believe they're a little more than $200. What kind of music do you use them for?

Everything, but mostly electronic. I use a set of AKG as my daily drivers hooked up to my Burson headphone amp. I love the details but they're not heavy on the bass, very articulate though. I'm surprised with how well the G2 drives my Senn HD595's all by itself though.

Hmm, the M50s are also good for electronic music but I'm not into it as much as I used to be. I want some for rock/metal as I'm getting back into that again. M50s aren't bass heavy but they're too "warm" sounding for that kind of music :(

Are you looking to drive them directly from your phone?

Yeah. I wanted to buy a Fiio portable amp but my dog chewed up my M50's cable and I haven't gotten them fixed XD

nope, I always wanted the original note but tmo took them off the shelves the day I went in to buy it. Settled for a s3 instead not knowing when the note 2 was going to release. so hell no

Trust me, I'm not championing the Beats by any stretch, but I do think they're better than what most cell makers stuff in the box with their cell phones. It also doesn't hurt that HTC has a mode for their audio that is specifically developed to work with their Beats earphones.

As far as sound goes, the MP3 format and other digital formats have somewhat sterilized the music industry. While the frequencies they've removed from the audio source can't be heard by the average human ear, there seems to be a certain warmth that has also been lost. While I don't have a high end turntable (I'm not that big an audiophile/audio snob), I still have a Sony that I bought maybe 10 years ago, and when I converted my parents' vinyl collection to CD, I could hear a distinct difference with just a post-era produced turntable. I'm sure the sound would be even more rich if I had a true diamond tipped turntable.

Two good items there. I am pushing a cheap bumper case, and the knock off clone tempered glass you have listed. I put them all into a wallet type case which has a belt loop..My Note 3 is well protected. BTW, the knock off temp class works nice too..They were so cheap, I purchased a spare.. :)

I'm reasonably happy with the sound of audio that's been ripped in lossless formats. I don't think I really have any gear that's gonna discern the details beyond that. I have a Burson Audio Conductor DAC/Headphone Amp and some fair to mid Senn and AKG cans (no cans that cost more than $800US). I tend toward electronic music and some older stuff from the 80's. I can barely remember vinyl as I've not listened to any vinyl since the late 80s. I like that with the HTC One and G2 audio is being made more of a priority but the cheap earphones that they (used to) include with some phones should have been just illegal as far as I'm concerned.

I heard a few months ago about an audio format being championed by Neil Young that's supposed to bring back some more of the full audio spectrum that was lost when everything went digital. I just hope we don't get into a nasty format war that only confuses consumers.
