I don't know if this has been posted, but can anyone tell me how to turn off the setting that makes the screen to turn on when receiving a text message? Thanks in advance.

Re: Screen turns on when receiving text message

Unfortunately, you can't. It drives me nuts, too. But it's not just the Note 4, it's been there in every single Samsung phone I've ever owned, and if we are comparing, the iPhone does it, too.

Calls and text messages, unless you're blocking notifications, will always turn the screen on.

Woot??!! Is it carrier-branded? I've owned factory-unlocked ones and now the T-Mo version of the Note 4 and texts always light up the screen :(

UPDATE.

If you use the stock messaging app, then your screen lights up. If you use Hangouts, it doesn't. Drewood, are you using Hangouts for SMS by any chance?

It did not happened with the Note 3 though, the led light would come up and thats it. But the screen to wake up? Never. It's really distracting and I hope there is a setting to change this.

Re: Screen turns on when receiving text message

My Note 3 (International version, factory-unlocked) did do that, again, with the stock messaging app. No setting to change that, sadly.

Re: Screen turns on when receiving text message

Try go sms pro you can alter that in settings.

Re: Screen turns on when receiving text message

On my note3 I go to text messages, settings, more, and unclick preview messages.

Re: Screen turns on when receiving text message

Go sms pro is the best messaging app in my opinion. I've always used it. I've had all the note versions on Verizon. I pre ordered the note 4 on 9/19.

Does anyone know how to set MMS pictures to save to the micro SD Card instead of the device?

I am looking for the setting that will make this happen. I just got the Note 4 yesterday, and it doesn't light up on receipt of any notification, text or call. Any ides??

Do you have the LED turned on? (Settings>Display>LED indicator)

I have the note 4, led turned on but my screen still doesn't wake on text messages. It does for snapchat though. Any idea how to get it to turn on or is it just not possible on this phone? I have sprint

Use Google messenger. It does not wake the screen. Many 3rd party messaging apps also allow you to disable that setting.

Stock Note 4, Sprint... Screen does not light up upon receipt of text message - just how it should be.

I use a Pebble watch, and leave my phone in my pocket, so it doesn't really matter if it lights up :D

Seriously though, Verizon Note 4 with LED on and my phone and it does light up when I receive a message.

I know this is an old thread but there any resolution to this? From what I can tell it depends on what carrier you get the phone from. I have Sprint and it will not and can not light up with the regular messaging app (please don't offer up 3rd part apps that's not the point). My friend has a note 4 as well but on Verizon and his does light up.
