Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Cases

I recently made the switch from iOS to Android with the purchase of a Note 5. For the most part, I'm very happy with my decision in terms of both operating system and handset.

One of my few complaints about the Note 5 is in the case department. As a former iPhone user and design enthusiast, I'm really sad to find there is virtually no market for high-end, thoughtfully designed (though not necessarily designer, if you know what I mean), or unique cases for the Note 5. I suppose that is to be expected when you purchase a top-tier niche productivity device, as the target is probably not as image conscious as the proto-typical iPhone early-adopter.

Am I just looking in the wrong places? Does anyone have a recommendation for a case or holder that sounds anything like what I describe above? I don't mind paying premium prices if I think a product is well designed or thoughtfully made.

You can always buy an Otterbox Defender and rip out that stupid built in protector and used tempred glass like I am and that offers great protection and since you won't be removing the case to clean under the built in screen protector the rubber shouldn't stretch as much.
Another option is the Poetic Revolution case for the Note 5 coming out soon. I had one for the s6 and very durable case and great built in screen protector and better than the Otterbox Defender and offers a lot of protection for drops. However the Note5 they added a loop at the top which sticks out far in order to remove the case easier. It makes the case too huge but overall they make good stuff.

The only other option I can think of is a Supcase. They're still pretty bulky but look kinda cheap though. Hopefully more cases come out soon.

Walmart still does NOT carry anything for the Note 5. They carry a huge selection for the S6 and IPhone 6 though.

The Note line is a niche line still so you won't see a ton of cases. Over the next couple months I hope that changes. Pelican makes a Voayger case which is thick but made out of plastic and way overpriced. So either it's otterbox, Poetic Revolution, Pelican, or Ballistic as they make a case for it. If you need one right away Otterbox or Pelican are the only two heavy duty cases you will find in retailers right now.

I know it sucks. Even Amazon is sparse on thick cases. I'm sticking with my Defender with tempered screen. It is a little loose still though so if something thick comes a long I'll probably buy it.

I use the UAG Case always used that case had it on my Note 4 , now i have it on my Note 5.

I ordered this Poetic Affinity Series case from amazon. It should be here before the weekend and I'll let you all know how it is, it seems to be poetics spinoff of the uag case for half the price but we'll see. I've been rocking my new note 5 without a case so far and haven't had any problems with it slipping out of my hand but I think I have only dropped a cellphone maybe a handful of times since I started getting them back in the day.

So what is the official word on the Note 5, and whether it plays nice with cases that use magnets?

The Verus website seems to recognize the issue, but explains it away by saying that the phone needs to aclimate to the magnet... What is the real story here? Are the magnets harmful, or does the phone simply need to "get used to the magnet"?

Got my Verus Damda slide. Nice case that fits 3 cards easy and they're easy to remove. This case is SLIPPERY! The back of this case is as bad as, or worse than, the phone itself. I have a clear SP on the back of mine that offers more grip than the case. It goes a long way in convenience though. I think it does offer drop protection too. Perfecly aligned cut outs.

Would you buy the Damda case again in retrospect?

I like that green also, may have to get one of those.

I am looking at the electric blue and the military green cases...

Also considering the leather-ish and the damda cases...

I wonder if the single use code is applicable to multiple cases in the same order (the offer says only one code use per order...but doesn't say that multiple cases can't be in that single order...).

At the very least, I can get two (one from my account, and one from my wife's account)... :)

I received my Luphie case today. It's well made, but adds about 2 ounces to the phone, raising it from about 6.2 oz to about 8.2 oz - a fairly sizable increase. The buttons work very nicely, but the back is glass, and fingerprints are an issue, as it is with the naked Note 5.

The item that indicates "open" is a locking mechanism. When open the two parts of the case (bumper and back) separate, which allows installation or removal. when locked, the back and bumper are (theoretically) locked.

Here's what it looks like.

Nice but those cutouts look tiny and not centered??

The cutouts seem to be precisely centered where they should be - it may be the shadows or the angle the pictures were taken at that make them look off.

I like it, except for the weight and fingerprints.

Ended up picking up four of the cases:

- Military Green
- Electric Blue
- Coffee Brown PU Leather
- Dark Grey Damda

For those of you wondering, you can use the code on an account to purchase 3 cases... The 4th one came up at full price, so I moved that one to my wife's account and applied the discount...

Argh! I really don't need this many cases!

I'll preface this by saying I'm not a big fan of cases. I'll typically get one or two because theoretically they are a good idea, and I'll use them for a few days and then toss them aside. I just really prefer the look and feel of a naked phone. I find otterbox and other gargantuan cases of the like that make phones look like giant bricks obnoxiously annoying and incredibly ugly.

That being said, I ordered a case for my lovely new Note 5, because it seemed like a good idea. My requirements are slim, feel good in the hand, and look good, and I must say the Spigen Liquid Crystal is damn near what I was looking for. It adds virtually no bulk at all to the phone and because it's clear and doesn't take away from the beauty of the Note 5, it looks great. Now it definitely doesn't feel as good in the hand as the naked Note 5, but the case does make it a little easier to hold.

So there you have it, the case for people who generally dislike cases.
