Samsung Galaxy S11 with 5x zoom & 108MP camera!

I question that the optics will be sharp enough to make use of that kind of pixel density. As it is, high end DSLR lenses can have trouble resolving even half those pixels on a much larger full frame sensor. If the lens maxes out at 20MP (just throwing a number out there for illustrative purposes), then a 100MP sensor will have the exact same image detail as a 20MP sensor. The megapixel wars are not as bad as they use to be in the camera world, but I see are still alive and well in smartphones.
If someone would have the guts to make a thicker phone with a retractable lens then they could increase the size of sensor and battery.

I really hope that does not happen. I love smaller phones-my S10 is actually the biggest phone I've owned. If the S and Note lines merge, I will have to look elsewhere.
They might make enough variants to please everyone.

I'd definitely consider it. I was fine using my old V20 with the 10,500mAh battery, and boy was it thick! Just think about the camera tech and achievable quality with that kind of extra space.

Yeah, I had a 10000 battery with the V20. That might be a bit much to handle for the average person. I care more about the thickness to bring up the camera specs.
It wont happen though.

how does everyone feel about losing the headphone jack? are wireless buds worth buying and perform just as well as wired ones? I really dont want to have to keep another device charged up so ive resisted getting them

Most people wont notice the audio quality between wireless and wired. If you prefer wired you can always use wired with an adapter so it's a minor inconvenience for most.

I feel so strongly about the headphone jack that I almost bought the ROG Phone 2 in part because it had not one, but two(!) headphone jacks. I use Bluetooth to stream to my work truck and it's ok for audio only. But when I'm stopped and want to watch YouTube, there's a severe lag in audio compared to video. It's like watching an old English dubbed Japanese film like the classic Godzilla movies. Headphone jacks are universal, problem free, and just work as they should. You can also get better audio quality, though Bluetooth has made advancements in that area.

Ideally I would go for a phone with a headphone jack, but it’s not a deal-breaker for me. Same thing with expandable storage. Features like camera, battery, display/design, performance and to a lesser extent software matter more to me.

If USB-C to 3.5mm converters weren’t a thing though, I think having a headphone jack would matter more to me as my wired earphones have noticeably better sound quality than my Bluetooth ones.

I haven't had a phone with a headphone jack I 3 years. It honestly hasn't been an issue for me. I don't even use wireless. I just use an adapter.

Still hope it doesn't happen , as I will skip the S line this year

Timing will be the most difficult aspect of merging the two with the S lines and Note lines being released so far apart. I honestly think it wouldn't be a huge deal beyond the first year. Users will feel screwed either way.

I just got my first phone without the jack and using an adaptor in my personal vehicle. It works, but still an extra accessory that could go bad and need replacing. For those using multiple wired connections, they would now need extra adaptors or keep track of one as they move the phone about. It's not like the headphone jack is an expensive feature or takes up much space. Again, look at the ROG 2. Granted my last comment was tongue in cheek because one of the jacks is on the accessory cooling fan, but they have the highest spec phone around, plus a standard headphone jack, and still keep a decent form factor. Oh, and three other ports. 2 USB ports and the proprietary accessory port connector. Claiming space as reasons for removing hardware features is just scapegoat.

Good point

I just wish samsung would give us the option for a flat screen again. I HATE the curved edges... no glass screen protector, so many accidental edge touches...
