Hello, this is my first post to the forum. I have a Galaxy S2 that recently began shutting off on its own. After reading that a factory reset may correct the issue, I attempted to perform the factory reset. I was able to access the menu and selected the factory reset option. The green android with the spinning nexus in its belly was displayed as expected however, after 30 minutes, it was still running. After reading that another person had experienced the android with the spinning belly and had removed the battery and then successfully reset their phone, I removed the battery. When i put the battery back in the phone and pressed the power and volume up buttons, the phone did not respond.

Do I need to perform another key combination or have I ruined the phone?

Thanks in advance for your help.

try turning it on regularly, does the led stay a solid blue or blink blue continously?

Staying on in that mode may have killed the battery. See if it charges, and try to turn it on normally. If you are still having problems, boot into recovery, (Volume up and power at the same time) and do a wipe of the cache, and reboot.

What if you can't get it to 'boot into recovery'? My Epic 4G Touch reset itself yesterday when listening to mp3 via vehicle radio. Used headset jack in radio and also had usb charger plugged into charging port on radio. I don't remember if I used it after the 'reset' because I got to my destination. I disconnected it and put it in my purse. On the way home was when I realized it wouldn't turn on at all. I took battery out to reset it. no good. the blue light just stays on. If I press and hold power + volume up, the light will blink once and then is steady again but the phone won't do anything else. Any ideas?

I don't know what would have caused that to happen from what you've stated you were doing with it at the time, but you have bricked your phone.

Try holding vol down and power and see if anything happens. If you can get to Odin mode chances are it can be saved.

Yep, it is 'bricked'. I took it in yesterday and it has to be replaced. :( Have to wait a couple days for the replacement to come in. Oh well, I least I have TEP

Device protection is your friend if you have it. A hard brick won't show up as custom or unofficial software because it won't boot so they won't know. Don't tell them.
