Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 - Msg "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped"

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 - Msg "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped"

Stevie,

I have the dreaded "process com.google.process.gapps" error on my Samsung Galaxy 2s. All the suggested fixes in this thread do not work. However, I am unable to try one fix:

3. go to Settings -> Application manager -> press the Menu button -> select 'Reset app preferences' When I get to the " Application manager -> press the Menu button" step and press Menu, I only get an option to Sort the apps, no option to Reset app preferences.

Any ideas? Is that option somewhere else on the phone. I have Android 4.0.4. Samsung model number SGH-T989.

HELP!!

Thanks, Gary in Portland, Oregon USA

Hi Gary. You don't have S3. Your phone is the older S2 ( Samsung Galaxy S II T989 - Full phone specifications ). And because you running 4.0.4 some Menu options might be not available...

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 - Msg "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped"

So, what do you suggest to stop the error message? Is there a way to reset the apps one by one?

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 - Msg "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped"

Dear,
My phone (Samsung S3 ini) suddenly behaving funny and shutting down and restarting automatically in every 30 seconds interval (approx.) and before it get shut down , it says "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped? . Than I saw a solution given by steve in forum advising to go to seeting---application manager- all tab and scroll down to bottom and enable the download. I did the same and not getting the mesage " Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped? but the phone still shutting down and restarting automatically in every 30 seconds interval. Pls guide as to what is the reason and what should I do to get the phone in order. Thanks.

what should I do to get the phone in order
Boot into Recovery mode and wipe the cache and perform a Factory Reset (you'll lose all of your data due to the latter so be sure to backup your important information first).

Sorry you haven't received a response yet.

It's quite possible that 'Downloads' (and 'Download manager') are not turned off on your phone, and depending on the Android version on your phone things may look different (the following screenshots are from Android 4.3)

This shows "Downloads" on the ALL tab in alphabetical order. If it was disabled it would also be shown on the TURNED OFF tab.

Once you find "Downloads" and open it you'll see if it's disabled/turned off.

(Note: earlier versions of Android looked different - if an app was disabled, it would appear at the bottom of the list, with the word 'Disabled' next to it.)

Go to settings then application manager and go "all" tab and scroll all the way to bottom click on "download" and enable it :)

Sorry Stevie, I can't see where / how you find 'download', I just have an alphabetical list of apps and the amount of memory used

Did you happen to look at the screenshots in post #130 (immediately above yours)?
Did you try scrolling to the far right to the "TURNED OFF" tab to see if it was there?

What firmware do you have on your phone?
