Why do i see constant videos and posts and about how to take a screenshot by pressing the power and home buttons. IT DOES NOT WORK. The only way is to use the palm swipe method and that doesnt always work. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME ANOTHER WAY TO TAKE A SCREENSHOT THAT ACTUALLY WORKS. Im using android 4.3 on a samsung galaxy S3 for virgin mobile.

It does work... You have to hold both down until the screenshot takes. It takes a little practice but it works. I've never heard of the palm swipe method... what's that?

Go to Settings -> Motion to find out

To the OP - capturing a screenshot using either method is somewhat timing dependent and just takes practice:
- you have to press-and-hold the Power button and the Home button simultaneously, and then release them both once the screen is captured (you'll see a white border around the screen briefly when the capture takes place, and if you have System audio turned up you'll hear the usual Camera snapshot audio)
- the Palm Swipe is actually misnamed: you use the edge of your hand, like in a karate chop, and swipe that from left-to-right or right-to-left across the whole screen (obviously that feature has to be enabled first)

Again power and home do not work!!!!! I have tried every possible configuration to take one this way, Quick presses, long presses, one before the other and the opposite....DOES NOT WORK.
This phone is so terrible. I switched to it from an iphone and I'm counting the seconds to switch back. Its basically useless without being connected to a charger, due to its 20 min battery life and oh, make sure you push up on the charger entry plug when your using it the entire time so it doesn't die in the middle of a business call, hopefully your very dextrous multi-tasker. Luckily after you get pissed off and give up all you have to do when its lying there is make sure you wrap the cord over the top and strategically place it in a way it will have pressure on the plug the entire time so it connects. (So far I've only needed to buy 4 different brand chargers in an attempt to fix it). I also like trying to use anything, when a ******* "low battery" popup flashes your screen every 2 secs. Usually its in the middle of a text and then since your speed-typing and the popup is perfectly over the keyboard you end up pressing "battery info" on accident, everytime, and then it takes you to another screen after waiting 10 seconds. If you add up that bull**** and the fact that the keyboard sucks in general, (yup i have swiftkey and swype and blah blah they all suck.) your basically looking at about 10 min to send 4 sentences. I used to be able to text while i drove without even looking at my iphone and MAYBE have 1-2 words wrong.
How bout the Camera? Bigfoot leaps out in front of you and he's real!!!! All you have to do is pull out your awesome galaxyS3 and fire away. Awwe that sucks, so much for that million dollar proof. Samsung decided that since your at 5% battery your not allowed to take a picture. Thanks for that awesome feature guys, I always wanted a phone that would decide for me when I'm allowed to take pictures. Just ask him to come back when your charged up. Ohh whoops that would be never.
"Wi-fi connections optimizer" is another great popup. The "ignore" button has a 5 sec time limit before it resets itself and reminds you again of the "RULES AND CONDITIONS". Thank god because i dont know about you but i actually love scrolling down and pretending to read 20 pages of nonsense. Don't bother looking in settings for a way to shut it off because that would be ridiculous. Shutting off Wi-fi does however get the job done, for 5 minutes, until it turns itself back and and reminds you again. Its a simple fix though, all you have to do is just leave the general area and stay away from free wifi.
Email is pretty cool. I feel really important when I get 20 notifications a day telling me how many new emails I have. Just press the "email" app and tah-dah. Its takes you right to your junk email folder. That is the folder you want it to open to every time right? NO? Ohh sorry, just go into settings and select "inbox" instead. That will fix everything it until you leave the app and re-enter it, taking you straight to junk again. Since it would be pretty stupid to have all those "new notifications" just for junk mail, luckily thats not the case. Instead they are just to notify you about mail you have already read. Yes thats right. 20 new emails doesnt actually mean BRAND NEW emails....it just means the were new when the person first wrote them. So yes, however many emails are in you inbox, thats how many "NEW" emails you have. I could go on for days but I think this is enough for now

You would prefer to take a professional shot of an ape, at the potential expense of shorting your phone? There is a reason they cut off the camera on a low battery percentage....they didn't do it to annoy you.

You should go back to iPhone, clearly Android is too much for you.

You stressed about the ****ty battery in this rant. I am 100% on your side, the battery in this phone is absolute ****. She I leave it idle, it lasts 2 days on standby. As soon as I turn on my screen the battery drops from 100% to 0% in 2 seconds. Garbage

I just switched from the iPhone too. But I'm not having any of the problems you're listing. The screenshot method with the power button and home button work perfectly for me. The Palm screenshot method it's iffy for me. The battery lasts pretty long. I love this phone. I feel like you got a lemon. Have you tried to talk to Samsung or Virgin Mobile to ask for a replacement?
