Hey everyone, quick question.

I want to use hangouts as my default sms app; with that said, am I able to force stop the stock Samsung messaging app and still have hangouts operate normally? I am not rooted.

Also, is there any way to get notification badges on Nova launcher for hangouts? I know previously it wasn't possible before the new update to SMS integration, but when I used apex my notifications showed up perfectly on hangouts after the update and I can't seem to get it working for Nova.

Any help would be appreciated!

How do I get Ver 2.0? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it always ends up w/ ver 1.2.018. Is V2.0 for KitKat only?

For the OP: I believe you just go under your stock messenger settings and untic the notifications option. You can have as many sms apps as you want just untick notifications on all but the one you want to use.
And isn't there an add on for nova notifications, teslaunread or something like that? That may help.

go to global settings (non Nova) and manage apps. then find general messaging app and untick notifications. i also hid the general messaging app under nova settings>drawer>hide apps. I think its optional if you want to disable general messaging app altogether, i didnt bc it gives you a scary message that it may mess up other stuff.

anyway, used missed it! app for badges. just use missed it! and register hangouts with it.

my only issue that i can't figure out is how to do custom contact notifications with hangouts, dont think its possible yet. I have a custom alert tone for a contact in my general samsung contacts app, but it plays generically on hangouts.

The simplest way to turn off SMS on Hangouts or turn on SMS on hangouts
Open Hangouts
click on Menu then click on Settings, then uncheck the check box for 'Turn on SMS'

Hey quickest way to disable standard SMS, is to got to settings>application manager>swipe over to all>fins sms>turn off or disable.

if one switches SMS over to Hangouts, does it get saved to Google servers? if it does, I'd switch...
