samsung galaxy s5 text messaging not responding?

I got the samsung gs5 yesterday after being with iPhone for so long. Transferred everything over even all my messages from old iPhone and now messaging is slow and it stops responding. Is this an issue with the phone or should I just delete all the old texts? Could it be that they are just slowing the phone down? People are receiving my texts and I'm getting them. I've never had an android phone before

Just try restarting the phone. You may have a lot of messages come in all at once. See if that helps if not the I would delete the messages unless you have important information that needs to be saved

Yep i just erased all the unimportant messages and its doing fine now
