Samsung Galaxy S6: Home and Power button stop working intermittently

[Android Central Question]

Hey,

I woke up this morning to find that either my home button doesn't work, or my power button, and suddenly without having done anything, google assistant turned on and keeps turning itself on. The three things seem to be connected, as I've found other posts on this forum detailing the exact same problem!

When the power button breaks, I have to remove the SIM card to reboot my device, which does sometimes restore the power button to working order, but it will eventually break again.

The home button doesn't always work in safe mode / after reboots, but it will randomly break and be fixed.

This is extremely frustrating and my only next step is to factory restore my phone and hope for the best, but this cannot be a coincidence that multiple people have experienced this exact same issue.
