Hi,

I have a problem with the display of my S8 smartphone. It started with getting brighter and darker all the time. Within one day horiyontal stripes appeared at the upper part of the display and then it remained black. Pressing the power button the start screen starts to appear, then freezes while getting brighter. There is no real image, though, and it never changes. The display is nevertheless still sensitive to touches. Interestingly, when turing off the cell phone (power button + lower volume) and connecting it to a power source, the display still shows the state of charge without any issues (a prominent number in % in the center of the display). Restarting the cell phone results in the same issue again. Before this happend I haven't installed an update or a new app. Does anyone know what causes this behaviour and how to fix it? Thank you!

Welcome to Android Central! Does this still happen in Safe Mode? www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062983/. If so, then the display is failing and would have to be replaced. Make sure all of your important data is backed up or synced while you can, in case the screen completely fails.
