Samsung Galaxy S8 or LG G6?

Which phones were IP68 before the Samsung Active?
The Sony Xperia Z came out 4 months before the Samsung S4 Active. Both had lower IP ratings than 68, but Sony were the first to make a thing of this, and did it with their main flagship rather than a niche model, so have the better claim to pushing it as an innovation IMO.

If you actually care about IP68 specifically, Sony reached that with the Z3 in September 2014, Samsung with the S5 Active 9 months later (the S5, April 2015, was IP67 and Samsung's first IP-rated mainstream flagship, but then they dropped the IP in the S6 so clearly weren't fully committed to it as a mainstream feature until the S7).

G6 would be fine if it had 64 gigs of memory. Other than that it is a nice phone and one that I would own.

Well I ordered the S8 but the things the G6 have going for it are bigger battery, shock resistent ( very important ) dual camera and the best thing- a FLAT screen. I hate the curved edges on the S7E. I love using a tempered glass screen protector which is impossible on a curved screen. I know some people don't like screen protectors but using a tempered glass screen protector will definitely improve the front glass protection. The biggest reason I use Samsung is because of Package Disabler Pro. You don't have to fool around and root your phone. If LG had something similar I would probably give the G6 a chance

The G6 battery may be bigger, but it ain't better. The battery tests I've seen put the G6 behind the S7, and judging by the S8+ outperforming the S7 Edge, the S8 should come out ahead of the S7. Which means that 10% bump in mah is purely a spec detail and not a reflection of performance.

mAh has never been a good idea for battery life comparisons .. It is a factor but only a factor. A big factor is hardware and software performance. If you have bad software it won't matter if you have a 5k battery because it can rip it apart in no time.

I spent a good part of this thread telling people what I wished LG -would have- done, but in regards to what they did do and what people are buying? A solid phone. I would imagine the battery life on the G6 is more than capable of getting most people through a day which is basically standard nowadays.

Agreed. I still expect Samsung to win in the camera and battery life department but I wouldn't say the G6 is crap or anything.. just maybe not top dog :P.

Just dropped off my G6 at The UPS Store with a T-Mobile return label.

Now, it's going to be a painstaking wait until my S8 Plus shows up.

Just curious as to why the G6 didn't work for you?

That's life... Some do get lemons.. Many people retured s7 edge also
I too had a defective display got it replaced under warranty
Iam sure once s8 duos are released there will be returns aswell

That was not why I was asking, but nice defense job lol

I am returning my G6 today and will be preordering a Midnight black 8 today as well. The phone is built well but the camera was very slow with focusing on moving subjects in anything but perfect light. My s7 edge takes tremendous photos and I loved the camera in my Note 7 so I'll be very excited for a Note style phone albeit no stylus. After the V20 and now G6 having horrible auto modes in cameras I'm done with LG.

I had the v20 and was so disappointed by the camera I said never again to LG. I heard the camera on the g6 is scratching just like the v20
