Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 won't charge

Re: samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 wont charge

try these if ur tablet isn't charging properly or not charging at all:
-blow hard into charger port and end where the charger goes into the charger port (u probably don't need a fan), and then leave it charging overnight
-keep on taking the charger in and out of the tablet

Re: samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 wont charge

OK brand new to this so any advice on posting etc welcome. Tab2 p5110 10.1 I got this as " not charging" from son did some research and ordered new battery and have soldered the green and white wires in plug. Fitted new battery and still will not charge, not even a flicker of life no matter which charger and is not recognized by laptop. Would really like to bring this back to life. Any help would be welcome.,:(

Re: samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 wont charge

Problem solved! Was having the same problem and realised it's all about ampage. Some cheaper replacement chargers or chargers for some mobiles don't deliver enough power to charge tablets up from empty. So although they might keep it ticking over and ever slowly charge it when it still has some juice when it is completely dead it just can't cope! If you have lost or damaged the charger that came with the tablet I suggest (as hard as this is to say) an Apple or Blackberry wall plug with the tablets USB lead as these deliver a higher ampage than other smartphone chargers! I'm using a blackberry and it charges my tab 2 no problem. Hope this helps. ;)

This helped very much indeed! I had a similar issue, however I was using the original Samsung charger and USB power cord. The problem was that I also had a generic USB extension cord attached, since the original Samsung cable is rather short. It does not provide enough current to recharge a fully drained battery. Thank you DanL42.

I have the same problem and tried to recharge it from the wall and via a laptop. Still does not work. It tries to charge and fail again and again. This happens for the past 14 hrs. Could you please pass a solution if any? Thanks.

I fixed mine by giving the battery a boost, it looks like the charge controller on the device get confused or cannot supply enough current when the battery charge is extremely low. If you are comfortable (and you must be extremely careful, lithium ion batteries can explode if improperly handled so do so at your own risk) open the case and disconnect the battery completely. The battery has 2 red wires (left hand side of connector), 2 black wires (right hand side of connector) and one blue wire (middle). Using a current limited power supply (you must have a power supply that you can manually set at 5 Volts and no more than 600 mAmps) and connect the positive terminal to the left most red wire and the negative to the right most black wire. You should only need to keep the supply connected for a minute or two, just enough to get some energy back into the battery. The power supply current should max out at the limit you set, if it doesn't the battery is dead and it is dangerous to carry on trying to charge it. Reconnect all wires as before and close the case. The Tab will now charge off a normal USB cable. If it doesn't you can try charging the battery directly for a little longer but I wouldn't recommend longer than 5 minutes unless you know enough about lithium ion batteries to confidently charge one off a current limited power supply without overheating and damaging it. You cannot just connect the power supply to the device via the USB cable as the charge controller in the Tab will just take over and flop again.

I belive I found the trick! I had the same problem after 1 years use, my Tab would not charge fully. Use your tab until its down to yellow or red battery use, then power down and plug in the adaptor. In few hours I'm at 100%! The secret is to power down when you're not using it, that by itself extended my battery life. Hope that helps.

I think why it wouldn't charge is because the adaptor is faulty. l know this because it happened to me. if you have a universal adaptor for USB whether it is Iphone, Samsung phones or any phone that use 2in1 adaptor. Remove the usb and plug it into any of these apdators and charge it. it will start to charge straight away. whe it happened to me l was distress for 3days. I took it to the Samsung shop and they told me the cable was faulty. so whe l got home l tried to charge it again and it wouldn't work so l said to myself let me try my iphone adator, l plugged it and it started charging straight away, l tried my samsung phone adaptor and it also worked. l was like wow!!!!!!! finally.. I hope this helps.:):):):):):)

Re: samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 wont charge

I was stuck until I saw your post and did about the same thing ... I used a small (1in x 1in) alcohol swab and cleaned both parts of the port connection especially working the corner of the swab inside the port to clean all the contacts.
Thank you!

If tab battery is completely drained out, charging it initially with the car adapter works great, once you have the initial charge, you can plug it back into the regular usb charger and it will work fine.

Same problem with my galaxy 7" tab. I had to use a more powerfull charger and the tab worked perfekt again. I havn't used the tab for a while and always used the usb 3 port on my desktop. So now when I started useing a normal 0.2A adapter it didn't work. :D

I have the same problem and spent a lot of time researching until I found on youtube (search for galaxy tab 2 10.1 charging problems) it would seem that if you allow your tablet to completely drain its power whilst still switched on it goes into a restart loop when charging. This then drains the power and so you start again, what is explained in the video is that you have to remove the battery connection for 15 seconds. This effectively turns the tablet off and allows the charge to start without trying to start up, this stops the loop and charges the battery. Saved me buying a new lead and a new charger, hope this works for you !:D

I wanted to share how I fixed this issue. I tried everything from multiple charges, reseated the battery in the device. What did work, was putting my PS4 into power save mode, and then I hooked my tablet up to it. It actually came back to life! I don't know if it was because of the low power output, but it works fine now. Wanted to share because I know others are probably in the same boat I was.

I've had the same problem for a long time now. Replaced chargers, even replaced the battery, I did one simple thing and it seems to have fixed the problem for me..

I cleaned the cable port.

It never even occurred to me, but I looked in it and saw that it was quite filthy. Just get a needle or any other thin, strong object (bobby pin, etc.) and clean out all the debris. I also stripped off the cotton tip of a Q-Tip, mashed the end down as flat as I could, wet it, and cleaned the port.

So far it's been on charge for about 15 minutes and it seems to be charging just fine.

Hope this helps you all.

¡Saludos! ¡Lo logramos!

I share my final and creative solution to the tablet loop load and
battery crossed out in red for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

I was among those who did not avail of none of the tips: I tried
everything. Press power on for seconds, Volume +, Volume -, one with
another, all together, squeeze and slide your fingers across the screen,
plug in the car, try another charger, blowing ... I tried everything,
everything, everything. And I tried everything soooooo much that I no
longer had 'fisical' alternatives, so ... I had an idea inspired by old
tricks with some devices used on my old Commodore 64 ...

What I did was send the tablet to the freezer for an hour (if yours is
very powerful, I suggest you keep trying in periods of 15 minutes ...).
When I plug it to the socket I realized at once that he had exit from
the 'loop' because the display shows me back a picture with battery with
a thermometer (obviously, indicated that the device, issues of
temperature, was not suitable for I use) and so I left plugged for a
while. Finally he lit, but had the battery at 0 and… off again, and went
back into the loop (I said to me: it was in vain), but was not, because
I just had to turn it off and plugged back three or four times and
started reload: obviously something he had served. That's right: once
out of the loop and starts charging, leave it a while (I talk about
three hours) before rushing to turn it on, and to charge at least 25%
and see how to avoid battery crossed out in red one once he initiated.

Otherwise, the battery problem crossed out in red had already solved a
long time before and it is as simple and unusual like this: with the
device turned on, you have to plug and unplug frantically (without
waiting to see whether or not connected well, namely, with a lapse of
hundredths of seconds between 'plugged') about 100 or 150 times until a
time normally starts charging (red disappears). It may seem frustrating,
but eventually you get used and that solves the problem definitively,
for each occurrence.

Cheers! We did it!

I fixed mine. It went completely dead and at first tried to charge but failed. Then it went completely dead. It would not light up at all.

I held down the power button for 10 seconds, then while holding down the power button, I held down the vol-down button for 10 seconds. When I released both buttons, it lit up with a menu. Then I used the vol up and down buttons to highlight "power down" and pressed the power button to select it. It powered off. Then when I plugged in my charger, I saw the 'liquid' charging animation!

I found that the red x means the charger is not supplying enough power and this can goof up the charging routine. It is definitely best to charge it while powered off, but if you have a powerful enough charger, you might get it to charge while powered on as long as the battery is above 50% or so.
The tablet really should have a different power source other than USB, but they wanted a micro USB socket. I also believe that it was trickle charging even when it was blank, because it started charging at 3%. Hope this helps.
