Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, won't charge when switched on, why?

samsung galaxy tab 3, wont charge when switched on

i have a galaxy tablet that when the battery runs low its ask you to connect your charger which is normal, but it wont charge unless i switch it off any ideas please

Welcome to Android Central! When the tablet is on and plugged into an outlet, do you see the lightning bolt appear in the battery icon? Are you plugging it into a wall outlet or a computer USB port? Have you tried different charging cables and wall charging plugs?
