I have the same issues. I had recently purchased. After seeing the same issue I used the recovery method. I then exchanged the Gear S for new. The next day the new one did it as well. For me at least, it appears only after I fully power off the watch completely or the battery dies. Seems firmware related. I removed the one 3rd party watch and other 3rd party apps. Only running Samsung apps (Stopwatch, timer Calculator, etc) and the Opera browser to try and narrow things down. Recovery or reset seems to be an often solution for me. Sad.

Good news is, it went on sales ($100 off) and I was able to get the difference back. Happy.

I am now on my 3rd Gear S. The first one just seemed to be losing battery life very quickly without and other issue so Best Buy replaced it (after about 45 days of use). The 2nd one I just replaced yesterday after about another 2 months because of the issue listed above. It would flip between the watch screen and the wallpaper every few seconds, which made it pretty much useless, and kill the battery quickly. The new one I got yesterday did exactly the same thing after I paired it with my Note 3 with the Gear app. So I don't think it's the watch itself that has the problem . .. it must be something in the software. I reset the watch, and uninstalled Gear to get a clean start. I'll update when finished.

i think i Solved it.. just update your watch with RoM which is R750XXU1BOC1 for UK region (BTU) You Can Find it in SAMMOBILE.com in firmware section (Follow up the instructions how to flash your watch with this Firmware and it is completely clean and untouched) . it is not my region as i am from middle east Egypt but it worked and no more screen on or off any more.

I hope to continue to be Ok in the coming days ;)

reboot/recovery on watch.... uninstall gear manager/ reinstall....no 3rd party apps seemed to fix my watch...only 2 days though...hopefully this is the fix as its a pain in the *** starting all over again.

My Gear S is one week old with no additional apps installed and it just started doing the looping thing, right out of the blue. The restart/recovery did the trick, thanks.

bad news.... i have to send it to a service center. 3 factory resets and keep having the problem. it seems to be whenever the BT is disconected from phone. Samsung rep figured a codec didn't load right.

Mine is doing it again and it started right after I received a notification (while not connected via BT) This time the recovery action isn't working, nor is letting the battery die and since I can't get to the settings menu to do a factory reset, I am stuck in this mode... Is there any other way to force a factory reset?

Zanthic...use the recovery method...

Turn off the watch. Hold down the power button until you see a Samsung bootmenu with "Rebooting...." underneath. You'll then be brought to "Recovery Mode" with four options - Continue, Download, Recover, Power Off. Press the power button until "Recovery" is highlighted and then press and hold the Power button. It should then do a factory reset but you'll lose any data / apps on the watch and have to set everything up again.

Sometimes getting into the Recovery menu is a bit of pain. Sometimes I would get the "Rebooting..." screen and then it would just boot as normal and I'd have to try again or try holding down the Power button even on the "Rebooting..." screen until it took me to the menu.

Zanthic

sorry man, I believe you are correct witht the whole BT connected not connected scenario. I will update after i get mine back from samsung and i would not put it past them to just swap the watch out.

Thanks iamdjdmoney, I was, in fact, not doing the recovery method correctly...I was choosing recovery and letting it boot from there, not pressing the power button after recovery was selected.

Hello,
I have the same problem with my Gear S.
Is there any definite cure for the problem.. kind of getting tired of the constant resetting.

Thank you in advance!

well, after sending my watch for service 1000 miles away, Samsung sent it back, it worked for 12 hours, 7 were sleeping, then started looping 1st thing in the morning.

i call them upset as you could imagine and they won't replace till the try fix it 3 times.

here's what i can tell:

as soon as i play music or do another function and the watch is disconnected from BT / then it starts loping/ only way to fix is factory reset. / thinking of doing the horrible thing of switching companies as this is the time of the year i really need my watch because the phone stays in the car and i'm in and out of the car all day. this will be 2 weeks without my watch that i paid $400 for 5 months ago.

nope, just sent mine to service center for the 3rd time....yes 3rd and samsung says they may or may not replace it....

I am fairly certain that this is a software issue and that sending it back for service is never going to help (as made evident by the other posters). On my watch the issue shows up when getting notifications while not connected to my phone. It has never done this while BT connected.

Great, then you please start wokring for Samsung because even the executive level guy said needs to be returned 3x and then they will decide to replace it. but if it's software, then replacing won't help :(:-\
