It looks like there is already a new gear s2 on the way! A more fitness focused s2, there is a video floating on YouTube. I can't post link because I am new here but just YouTube search Samsung gear s2 body compass and it should be the first vid on the list. I'm not sure why they didn't unveil this at CES but it seems legit. The video doesn't mention how many smartwatch features it retains but my guess would be a fair amount of them. I was so close to pushing "buy" on the s2 because there's a website selling it for $200 after a rebate but I think I will hold out for this one!
Edit- it WAS included as a low key part of CES where they showcased the connected clothing and watch as an entire system. I guess it's up in the air whether any or all of the pieces will come to fruition.

I was wondering if the new features will arrive on the Gear s2 already out. It doesn't make business sense to upset the customers that already bought it. I think it's way more capable of what it currently does.

Don't you mean Gear S3?

Anyways... "body compass" is "bio-smart clothing" for working out. Looks like it works with Gear S2 if you check the 50 second mark of the video. Not exactly sure what the white and gold wrist device is being used at the beginning and end of the video. Might not even be a smartwatch. Might be more inline with a fitness wearable.

From CNET concerning Body Compass 2.0
"And Samsung's Body Compass 2.0 workout suit contains six different kinds of sensors to track your fitness levels like heart rate, respiration and body fat levels. The company hasn't yet decided if it will release the product, said a product manager at the Samsung booth."

This is the Samsung way with smartwatches. The Gear 1 came out. Then, 6 months later the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and Gear Fit came out. Then, 6 months later the Gear S came out. We did get a year until the Gear S2 came out. Although Android Wear, throw the Gear Live in there, too. So, it wouldn't be unheard of for them to release another variant of another smartwatch.
