Samsung Health and Strava

@djrakowski

So hows it going? Im about to test mine for the 1st time. 46mm LTE.

Great smartwatch, so-so fitness watch. GPS tracking is super-accurate, but instantaneous pacing was WAY off. I thought it would automatically enable raise-to-wake or always-on display during activities, but it doesn't, so that's a usability disaster in my opinion.

I'm back to Garmin for exercise, and the Galaxy Watch for everything else.

workaround is to turn off wake up gesture in advance setting and set screen time out to 5 minutes then you can leave your Garmin at home :-)

That "workaround" wasn't sufficient for me, already tried it...
Still too many issues in terms of usability, while trying to focus on exercise.

Cool, good suggestion!

Unfortunately that doesn’t fix the horrible HR sensor or the totally screwy instantaneous pacing.

Original question was:
"Has anyone figured out how to sync Samsung Health data to Strava (or more importantly, Strava to Samsung Health)?"
I am currently trying to get Samsung health to download my workouts FROM strava. (I use a garmin to record activities, then upload them to strava)
I have 'linked' my strava account in the Samsung health app, but it still doesn't fetch the data from strava.
Is anyone else having this issue or does anyone know how to fix it?
I have opened a ticket with both Samsung and strava regarding this.

Check you have the green dot in 'connected services: Strava'. It's actually a button and you have to press it quite precisely.
Then strava activities should sync to S Health. BUT, this isn't instant and usually happens overnight. E.g. record an activity on Strava on Monday morning, then check S Health Activities on Tuesday morning. It should be there.

Thanks for the response.
Yesterday I did what you described (and had to log in to strava to do it, so I assume it worked), but there were no past workouts in SH from strava this morning.
When I spoke to Samsung today, I went through the process again, so we'll see if I get workouts in SH tomorrow....

No worries. As far as I can tell, you won't get previous Strava workouts coming through, but you should get new ones, now that you have connected the service, synced the day after, as I said in my last post.

If you really want the older ones, the best tool is FitnessSyncer. It's a bit of a faff, but it does work as I used it myself to sync loads of old ones over. It took quite a while, though. Here's the link:

Thanks, I used it to bring my old runs in. For some reason I had to do it twice to make it work. I'm hoping this will goad SH into doing it itself...

Well, it sounds like you've done exactly what I did and now mine works automatically every day. Last thing to check, which you may have already done, is that you have the latest version of S Health on the phone installed. It came out approx one month ago and fixed new activities syncing. Prior to that, it was erratic at best.
