Hey all
Just started running again. Usually i run outside but my SO wants to go together and she likes the treadmill so....
Anyway I have a gear S2 and obviously the note 8. Ran for 35min on the treadmill and it only gave me a distance of 0.4miles. Any thoughts on why or how to fix it?
Thanks!

Mike,
Just a shot in the dark, but in the Health app, do you have it set to only register steps sensed by your N8? If memory serves, you can set the app to display steps sensed by your wrist device (I use Gear Fit 2), your N8, or both. I use both.

This assumes that you run without your phone.

My first thought is, you're asking the Note to determine how far you ran, while remaining in a stationary location? The Note can't determine how many revolutions the belt turned. I would use the distance recorded on the treadmill. Doesn't your S2 have a treadmill option?

You need to make sure Samsung health is tracking on your gear S2. I also use the pear for Samsung app I love it it has many different running workouts that also track your distance and calories burned. There's a 30 day free trial I believe.

I would guess it's tracking you through GPS and on a treadmill you are stationary mostly so It's not working properly. I don't use Samsung Health I use Fitbit app so I'm not sure if there is a setting for that or not. I would think there is a treadmill setting as there is one for Fitbit.

I don't think you will ever get really accurate results. I had the s2 the apple watch and Huawei watch 2. The s2 was the worst. If I ran 6 miles on the treadmill the apple watch would say 6.5 to 7, the Huawei says right around 5.5 and the s2 would be like 4. The Huawei seems the most consistent but I think the apple watch has better heart rate tracking. I would rather my tracking just be a little lower than way too much like the apple watch but the s2 was just not good for my needs.

How do you make certain of this?

I am having problems with the shealth app as well. It is logging time when I am not moving(like on a bus), so my steps and the time are waaay off. It is frustrating as hell in an app I depended on.

I use a treadmill, have for years, only run outside occasionally in good weather. I'm in northern MN so between cold and ice, you need a treadmill to run in the winter.

I also use S Health now called Samsung Health. I've used it on the Note 3, 4, 5, and S7. I also had a gear 2 neo smart watch back in 2014/2015. My experience was none of them could accurately tell how far I ran on a treadmill, they would count steps but distance was never right.
