I am trying to access local IP addresses on my LAN (e.g. 192.168.1.102) without success. The browser either searches the internet or does nothing. What is the format to enter? Do I need to changes settings?

Welcome to Android Central! Can you access those addresses using other browsers like Chrome?

Galaxy S7 - Samsung Internet Browser - How to access LAN IP addresses?

I am trying to access LAN devices (e.g. 192.168.102) but the browser either searches the internet or nothing happens at all!
What format do I need to type the addresses? Do I have to change some setting?
Works with Firefox but I do not want to use it on my phone.

I am here for the first time - sorry, couldn't find my own thread 8-)
I am using Firefox on my PC and it works fine but I don't want to install it on my phone (yet). I need to place some shortcuts to LAN devices on my home screen.

Make sure you have a server that a browser can access running on that device (an FTP or HTTP file transfer program is a server). Web browsers can't 'connect' to a computer not running a server the browser can talk to.

It should be pretty straightforward to install Chrome (or Firefox) on your phone and then just try entering the local IP address you're trying to access. You can always uninstall that browser immediately afterwards. I'm just wondering if it's an issue specific to the Samsung Internet browser app, or if it happens on any browser on your phone.
