I'd like to urge as many of you as possible to go to Twitter and look up Samsungtweets. That's the official feed from Samsung USA. Read some of it or better yet if you have a twitter acct give them some grief over Froyo. I've been getting responses from a few different Samsung people about their lack of upgrades for the Galaxy S phones. They are getting very defensive. :o

That's what is making it so fun... They are having to keep reciting the company line and all these people on Twitter are not having it. I've only sent a few but my my my are they getting tired of all the re-tweets and tweets and mentions. :p Sucks when your employer is making their customers unhappy that number into the millions.

i have sympathy for them its not their fault and all the complaining in the world isnt going to make this move any faster. i imagine all their friends and family that own Galaxy S phones are complaining as well. Do as you wish just remember how you would feel if the situation was reversed.

Meh, PR people are paid to put a good face on a company, I say make them work for their money. Maybe enough complaints will at least show them how serious people are about wanting the update.

it's all but abandoned. the official app, kies, doesn't even support it.

stuck on 2.1 and an emergency firmware update?

yep this is likely my first and last android experience.

Kies is for international use not US.... and what do you mean emergency firmware update..... what about your current android expericence is unsatisfying? what is it that 2.2 will bring that will make your experience better? Perhaps there is something that we can help you with to fix it.

True all the complaining won't make this move any faster and honestly do you want it to? I'd be very upset if it took this long for them to put out a bad product. But they will think twice about their actions on the next update. They've learned they can't play with the emotions of customers. We will hold them accountable for their actions even if it is just bothering the crap our of the little guy on the food chain. Samsung can't be happy with the way they look right now.

That's a good point. They have a reputation to uphold (or fix), and I'm sure they would like to get this out as much as we would like to have it. Don't blame Android though @SeatownGST.

Interesting perspective... A little about me may be in order.

First I work for a large international company. BMW to be exact in nearby S Carolina as a graphic designer. I work on print ad campaigns for the US and deal with customer feedback on a daily basis. Albeit on a different scale with a different business model but still the same principles apply. When a company designs, manufactures, distributes and sells a product they market it with certain features. Froyo was one of those features and all other arguments aside it was marketed as being immanent. Yet here we are, still waiting.

My employer wouldn't stand for a marketing campaign that promoted something it didn't deliver when a new vehicle was introduced and sold. So I take no real sympathy on employees of Samsung Mobile for not delivering what they said was right around the corner.

I the spirit of fairness I will confess that in my home we have 2 Samsung LCD TVs as well as a range and refrigerator. All from Samsung. See what I'm getting at? I'm a fan of their products... Including this phone. I want them to prove they are one of the best, if not the best mobile phone company out there. But that won't happen with this kind of bad publicity and word of mouth. And that is the real killer. No amount of marketing or company speak can remove bad word of mouth. Ask Toyota.

P.S.- I don't drive a BMW sadly. My employer doesn't pay me THAT well. I drive a Ford F250. I'm just sayin...

I'm really enjoying this phone. I still haven't rooted - still running stock 2.1/TouchWiz. I don't plan to jump ship to another phone anytime soon, regardless of how long it takes to get updates out.
That being said, Samsung really has brought all of the complaints upon themselves. Other manufacturers are pushing out the update, and Galaxy S phones in other countries are getting the update. This confuses people as to why they're being left behind - and therefore they voice their confusion/frustration at Samsung.
Do I want Samsung to release a buggy build? No... but I think they've had more than enough time to get something stable put together.. It's been months.

Just wait till the phone goes to EOL, and start proceedings for a class action lawsuit on false claims on the docks.

Better they be tried in the court of public opinion, if you ask me. A law suit only benefits the lawyers (they get a fat cut of the settlement, you get a voucher for $20 toward your next phone purchase.)

If android is going to live a long, healthy life it needs companies willing to implement it well and to keep all the hardware out there running to it's potential. What good does it do anyone if Android 2.3 has some killer feature but 100 million handsets are stuck on 2.1. I for one don't want android to be the Windows of phones, requiring a hardware update every 6-9 months just to stay current with the latest features.
