Samsung Kies for Tab 3 - Do not use Smart Switch

Recently, I was told by staff on this site Kies is no longer used by Samsung for connecting to my tablet, instead use Samsung Smart Switch.

I tried using it and got errors. Next, I reached out to Samsung Support. Was told Smart Switch was not compatible with anything below Android 5 Lollipop. I have Android Jelly Bean. This is 2 releases below the minimal support to use Smart Switch.

I wasted 4 hours trying to make it work before finding out why.

Hello

This is correct what Samsung explained but you Can't go into older threads advising to use kies when it will not help. I understand you may want to use an outdated device that is no longer supported which you can and probably not going get much help.
What I can suggest is going through older threads and gaining information you like here or XDA Forums on things you curious about on that device.

I've had much success with Kies and Win10 Pro.

On reddit, there are people still using these 13 year old table Tab 3 devices today like myself.

The XDA for these old tablets is very inactive for postings.

I was just on the Samsung community form and see far more posts there with these Tab 3 in 2024 up to last week. Should people search using Google or whatever, posting info to help them, no matter how old a thread might be, provides a helpful resource.

I agree there are some that use old devices and I'll add a very small amount It's just not worth it when u can find something today cheap and up to date. Android lollipop even apps are not supported by Google anymore.
So it's going to be hard to find information/Help unless old threads have something but again no app support, software and old hardware.

Examples.
Kies works for these older Samsung devices, the manufacturer officially ended support for it long ago , you try couple versions and it bricks your device or doesn't work, how can people help when the manufacturer moved on from it long ago. It's not like mass people held on to them and support is still available and can guide, even app support ended by Google.
