Anyone know if the Samsung Massages app is still being maintained by Samsung for various Samsung phones? I think I read somewhere that it was abandoned by Samsung for the S21 phone, and the default Android/google messaging app is now the one to use. However, what about for on other Samsung phones?

I have a Samsung Galaxy A21 and the app is not listed as available for an update from either the google play or the galaxy app stores. I actually can find very little about the app on the internet, and it doesn't even show up as installed when I look for it in my app listings from either google play or the galaxy app stores. My Messaging app shows as version 11.5.10.423, and I can't seem to update it, but there also doesn't seem to be any settings within it for RCS. So I assume it is out of date. I am on Android 10.

Yeah they going with the google/Samsung collaboration app , the icon looks just like google message but inside small Ui tweak to look similar to Samsung. You could probably download the Samsung message app APK from APK mirror .

I don't specifically need/desire to use a Samsung one. However, that I think is what I have been using thus far since it was the default one provided with the phone. Also, it doesn't appear to be possible to update it, and the version I have doesn't seem to have the ability to support RCS.

This google/samsung collaborative effort one you speak of, is that what Samsung is now putting on all their phones as the default messaging app? Is it in play/galaxy store listed as from Samsung or from google, or listed as developed from someone else? I don't think I can find it, but rather only ones listed as developed by google.

You probably have the default Samsung app , which carrier you have? Is it unlocked version or carrier version?

Yes the newer Samsung getting the collaboration from Google/Samsung.

I downloaded that version from apk mirror , i like it more .

My stock Samsung message app version is this one , when you to settings then about message in the app it will tell you if needs update

My Messages app looks like that, although I can't seem to get to any RCS settings for it from any of those settings, which is why I got wondering. Mine says it is at version 11.5.10.423 and it says the latest version is already installed when I examine "about messages".

Through both google play and galaxy stores, it does not show as available for an update and interestingly my Messages app is also not even listed as an installed app on the play or galaxy stores "my apps lists". I am not opposed to getting an updated version through apk mirror if I have to, but surely the most updated authorized version should be available via play or galaxy stores should it not? I can't even find any Samsung developed Messages apps listed in either store.

I am on Public Mobile in Canada, a discount variant of Telus. The phone I got unlocked separately through Aeroplan rewards, not associated to any carrier. I always assumed it was directly shipped from Samsung to Aeroplan to me, but maybe it went via a third party promotion route (although I have no indication of that as I have never seen any added apps or bloat, not even Aeroplan stuff, only just the Samsung bloat stuff).

Which carrier you on ? I have unlocked Note 20U and those dont have rcs in sansung message app except i believe sprint version. It should come from galaxy store but you wont see it listed just like the phone app or contact app.

So other than getting those from apk mirror, how do folks get those apps, or update them, if they aren't listed in the app stores.
