So, all of a sudden, Samsung Messages isn't receiving messages or allowing me to send them. When I try to send one, it says that it's pending and will send when the service comes back. What is happening here? Are they seriously forcing me to change to Google Messages?

They will at some point. Samsung Messages is officially on their EOL list and no further updates or support is going to be given down the line. Also, carriers have already started their phase-out for RCS support in Samsung Messages, so I'd check that first (if it's enabled, that may be why your messages aren't going through). I'd also check if Samsung Messages is truly set as your default messaging app (otherwise the system may not allow it to access the messaging framework). As usual, try clearing the app's cache as well just in case any buggy temp files are causing issues.

I'm not sure I've ever been able to get RCS to work for Verizon. My default is set to Samsung Messages and cache was cleared. That one message is still sitting there pending.

Most likely trying to send as RCS or something if it's just one message... Verizon officially terminated support for Samsung Messages as of Jan 6, 2025.
No, what I'm saying is I don't think I could ever even get it to work, so I don't think that's it. It appears that no texts are being received or going out, so I guess it's possible that Samsung has made my decision for me.

Can you make calls successfully?
No, I cannot. I did make one yesterday around 3:30pm and had no issues and now this. I'm confused. But since I can't call out, I'm not sure how I'll contact Verizon to find out what's up.

Ah, so it sounds like more of a network issue rather than a Samsung Messages app issue.

You can check if there are any Verizon outages in your area here: https://www.verizon.com/support/check-network-status/

Have you tried resetting your network settings in the system settings?

I didn't, but I was going through troubleshooting in the My Verizon app and it said to put the device into Airplane mode and then turn it off. For some reason, that worked.

Great! I suspect that doing so was like a simple reboot of the cell radio.
