So it seems that Samsung has not carried their messaging app forward to the S25 range, this is disappointing as there doesn't seem to be a way to customise chats in google messages....bah

If I remember right Samsung stopped putting Samsung messages on the phones pushing towards Google messages RCS support. I think you can download it yet though.

It's something that many should've saw coming as Samsung starting promoting Google messages over theirs starting last year. There were actually a good amount of articles pointing it out. I've been using Google messages strictly for the RCS and awesome reactions. It's fun seeing the little animations when I reply with an emoji or react to a message.

Read and article earlier today stating we will still be able to transfer Samsung Messages over from our older phone to the S25 series. They will also have Samsung Messages available for download in the Galaxy Store, but not the Google Play Store.
I've searched the Galaxy Store but Samsung messages is not coming up, not for me in the UK at least but I will try smart switch as mentioned above thanks👍

It wasn't available to download when I received my S25 ultra , neither was samsung music but I watched a youtube video earlier saying messages were back in the store.....

It looks like Samsung is dumping it all for Google messages and RCS support.

Makes sense, Samsung knows iMessage is a customer grab for iphone, I miss iMessage myself. Forcing Google messages with the RCS supports using with iMessage, not giving people a reason to go to iPhone.

I personally think Google is going to force RCS on all the Android phones. Any texting app would have to build off of Google messages RCS. That's just my gut feeling, Google has been wanting to work with iMessage for a long time and now that Apple is unwillingly allowing it, Google is probably going to force RCS on all Google phones. Just my opinion.

I would love to see Textra incorporate Google's RCS into their texting app, that's the best one I've used on Android phone. I would pay $5 a month for Apple iMessage app on Android.

I had it come over with switch but I tried to play some videos and they wouldn't play so I went back to the Google messages. With my s22u, ive been having lots of problems with texts going through so maybe this will help.

I read the sad news that Google is forcing Samsung to stop allowing their phones from coming with Samsung messages and instead used Google messages (3.4 rating in the play store)

Can someone confirm if Samsung messages is able to be side loaded and work via an old version apk?

Samsung just quietly retired its Google Messages rival, and not everyone will be happy about it

I still don't get the hype with iMessage especially now with googles reactions and emoji reactions. The times that iOS has added new things to iMessage I was like that's cool then a week later forgot all about it lol. The amount of times that iMessage has been down is enough to turn me off completely especially since I don't care for Apple devices in general.
