Samsung must have amnesia.

For someone coming from a seemingly dinosaur phone to the Note 20, I felt the earbuds and charger should be included. One is right for isn't right for all, true enough but there still a need. I think it's also a good responsible behavior of the company to include this. For one, we need chargers for the most part and the earbuds will be a responsible choice to keep people from texting and driving. For one who upgrade yearly, yes it poses a waste risk but those who don't or change OS will need them. Just my thoughts...

You lost me on the earbuds to keep people from texting and driving.

To clarify, text to speech and also phone calls. I use mine for this vs fumbling around. That is the small percentage of time I'm in a car vs motorcycle. Went to several ABATE meetings about car drivers and ways to improve this area to keep people like myself safer. ;-)

Please keep in mind there are those who drive older cars that do not have BT capabilities so on the road.

The problem with earbuds is that they are illegal to use while driving in most states so they are not a good alternative.
I believe some states allow using one bud but using both is a violation.

Using half of the earbud set is better than nothing. We covered this rebuttal here in my state in regards to this at the meeting. I won't hijack this post in regards to legislation matters behind the scenes in regards to curbing highway deaths.

Only the 11 pro. The regular model did not and most upgrading will be xr customers and below which means they don't have the c charger.
The 11 came with a USB-C charger but good point because that's not the majority.

If you're upgrading from an Apple device that doesn't have a C charger and you don't want to buy one you can use the old charger.

The bottom line for consumers is know what you're buying before you buy and make your decisions accordingly. If you choose to buy a device that leaves out chargers or ear buds, you can always buy a compatible charging brick or use an older USB cable with an existing charger.

I have multiple charger's of all type while I prefer that OEMs provide everything it's not the end of the world or would be ever a deal breaker for me. I don't buy my devices based on a charger or ear buds. I realize that stuff like chargers and ear buds are sticking points for some people but my advice is don't let it ruin your day.

Those old adapters weren't adequate for previous iPhones which mean they definitely are not for the models being released. I agree with you that I can care less as I have a plethora of chargers, but I can understand the convenience of getting a charger with the new device especially when the type of charger has changed. Almost like why taunt me with half the charger then make me but the more expensive piece lol.

My wife still uses her old charger with her 11 Pro Max.

The messed up thing is Apple includes a USBC lightning cable with the new iPhone 12 line and none of the past devices came with a USBC charger so a lot of people will be buying a USBC charger with their new iPhone. So it's not about ewaste it's about making money. If it was more about ewaste Apple would give their customers an option to trade in their old USBA charger for a USBC one.

Exactly. If it was about ewaste the industry would standardize chargers, connectors, and charging protocols so one type of charger would work for all. Or they would take the old charger in trade for the new one like you suggested. Or at least give you some credit. But they won't do those things because it's all about squeezing us for every penny... it has absolutely zero to do with ewaste. Companies will never worry about ewaste until government regulations force them to. Money is the only goal.

Yeah, the E-waste excuse by Apple is such bs... You gave people a cord that connects to a charger that existing iPhone users likely do not have.

Samsung should refrain from posting stuff like this knowing that they'll likely follow suit soon thereafter. They didn't learn from advertising how their Galaxy still had a headphone jack?

Wouldn't matter. Even though the masses think it was Apple, Motorola lead that charge with their Moto Z force. That was an evolutionary change. This on the other hand isn't and I don't see Samsung doing something like that for years to come.

But if you were a previous iPhone owner, you'd already have a cable and charger. Maybe they should have left the cable out too.

But the old adapters still work so?

On iPhones, "fast" charging was I believe introduced with the iPhone 8/X generation. ...but the phones still shipped with the "inadequate" charger. It's fine.

iPad Pro finally started using USB-C.
My MacBook 2015 uses USB-C as do most Apple, and that's 5 years.

I bought 4 if the Lightning adapters to allow using a USB-C on devices that don't. The reverse of what some Apple users face. But Android users have not being using USBA (?) for equally long. My S7 probably.

I've given away boxes of electronic and cables but 20 years and still have old Firewire and boxes of 3.5" disk drives - thankfully got rid of SCSI equipment.

You may not but for me, yes e-waste is very real.

I found the box for my old iPad mini 3 when cleaning some stuff out.

The box still had the power brick and cable. :/

I honestly haven't used the charger that came in the box since I moved to USB-C with the original Moto Z Force Droid. Used that charger with my Moto Z2 Play, and my Moto Z4. Granted, I do use third-party chargers so I also have USB-C power adapters (and portable chargers) from brands like Anker, Aukey, and RAVPower.

I got an iPhone XR. Didn't use the power brick. Heck - didn't even use the A to Lightning cable - ended buying Apple C to Lightning cables, in addition to cables from third party brands mentioned above.

The extra stuff has just been waste for me.

As I stated elsewhere, eliminating a brick, a cable or earbuds won't stop me from buying a device. While I certainly would prefer that they did include them it doesn't influence my decision one bit. I've got chargers, cables, wired and wireless buds and headphones in all shapes and sizes. Who remembers when moto used to provide micro SD cards? I even have some of those laying around.

Just because it works doesn't mean you should use it and yes they had fast charging but not with the adapter that was supplied. That's always been the running joke with apple never use the crappy 5w adapter that comes in the box. Guess apple caught on to it and figured to just not include it in the box anymore lol. Really a shame because they finally started giving a fast charger last year with the pros.

I'm actually glad when they stopped supplying those puny little sd cards that some of us would build up in collection although I'm still rocking my 256gb from the note 7 fiasco. It's good to not have so much clutter.

They weren't puny at the time.
