Samsung Note 10.1: How tough is it?

So, I got a windows surface pro 3 for Christmas. Two months later, it fell off a desk and the screen shattered. I got a new one on discount (cuz you can't replace the dark screen without breaking the whole tablet!). Two weeks later, shattered screen.
Looking into other tablets, the note 10.1 caught my eye. It looks really nice, but I want to know just how tough this thing is. If I get one, I plan to buy the more durable case I can find, but I need to know if this thing will be as pathetically fragile as my surface (like, iPhone fragile)
Thanks for any answers! I'm not in any hurry to get a response.

Well it depends on how high it is dropped from and what it lands on.....One of mine has fallen off the bed a few times on to carpeted floor with no problem, but did not survive a drop from about three feet and land face down onto my gravel drive way.... Best solution is take more care and try not to drop them, no matter who makes them...

There's no device that's any tougher than any other. It all depends on how they fall. I've seen iPhone screens break from 2 feet falling out of a parked car. And, I seen other phones fall 6 feet with no damage at all. How are you going to quantify how durable a phone or tablet is. I'm really sure that if my Note 10.1 2014 fell off my desk right now and hit my small metal vice sitting on the floor, I'm going to need a new screen.

Like Dale mentioned... "take more care"!
