I bought this phone last night at AT&T. I don't ever root phones. This starting happening right away for me just doing app updates sitting in the parking lot.
I hadn't even installed a single app other than the ones already there.

Samsung support has already verified they are working to correct the issue. They aren't certain if it is totally knox related or SE Android related or what. But you have to make sure you update the security certificates, I'd set it to auto. Then you shouldn't see the warnings as often. For those stating they haven't 'activated KNOX' there are two parts of the actual KNOX security environment. One is like SAFE was. It always runs in the background for the enterprise environment, hardware encryption, mdm ect and there is no activating. The other is the KNOX container which is available on some carriers, not on others. That is the user side that needs to be installed and activated.

Check and see if you and Anti-Virus Lookout on your phone...once I deleted this since it wouldn't let me update it, I haven't received that message anymore. You have to uninstall Lookout Anti-Virus.

I wonder if this might have something to do with the new Google Settings app that was rolled out. I started getting the PI message just after the Google Settings app logo turned up.

i have had the same problem. but i found when away from my home wi-fi it didn't send message the min. i pull in driveway wi-fi connects and i get the message right away.

exactly same as mine! my knox was unchecked already and I've uninstalled most samsung apps ...hopefully it works

Guys I solved it for my phone. When I received the notification, I went to app info(Knox notification) and cleared the cache and then cleared data. Now it doesn't show up anymore. Hippie that helps

Well this message started for me after I downloaded the game Random Heroes from the play store. If the annoyingness of Samsungs bad QC continues it'll be off to the nexus 5 I go. This along with the non stop my magazines app crashes is unacceptable. I don't download anything not from the play store and I don't root my phone. Unacceptable Samsung. Fix this issue fast the way other companies like Apple do when they make mistakes. I wouldn't be surprised if the phones were programmed to do this after a certain time so people feel forced to buy or activate Samsung security software. All I know is I do not have one unauthorized app so explain how I get that message.

I have just encountered the same issue today, my phone is galaxy note 3 and I haven't installed any new apps recently, however this morning the device ran into updating 3 apps one of them is the addition of google settings, I dont believe though that its the cause of the problem. I will do the knox trick (although it's temporary and stop its effect after restarting the system) for now and will wait for the official update from Samsung. Hopefully they will fix it soon.

Well it wasn't random heroes. It just did it again 10 minutes later. I have att. And at less on my phone it doesn't allow you to clear data or cache of knox. I'll give Samsung one month. If it's not fixed along with the my magazines app crashes I'm gone.

I did what Ramy stated but in addition I went to the settings and put the update security on auto....few minutes later the phone downloaded a an update for the certificate and I haven't had the problem ever since...

Following my post above, I unticked the auto update security and ticked it again. A few seconds later the phone notified me that there are system update currently downloading, after downloading and restarting another package was waiting which after it was installed the issue was resolved and didnot show (at least so far).

Download the security app "Lookout" it fixed this issue with my new note 3

I've been having this issue for a few days now. There's a discussion on it in the Sprint section for the Note 3, too, which is where I've generally been hanging out. I've tried lots of stuff mentioned there and by @sprintcare on Twitter, but nothing has really worked so far. Is there some way to force the security update mentioned a few posts ago to happen? I had that turned off before, so I want to see if that will help. I don't know what the real cause of this problem is, but I hope Samsung or our carriers push out a fix soon because this is really annoying.

I'm having the same problem... tried out all the method mention but nothing really solve the problem. And do you guys notice that the Google Settings Icon have change from green to grey?

im pretty sure i read someone figured this out, the cause is s health you have to go into samsung apps and update it. i did this with the shield showing on the notifications bar and as soon as it updated the shield went away and so far has never came back. it took me a long time to figure this out but it worked for me right away

Adding on with T-Mobile Note 3 screen shot, we have a "settings" option in our notice. Wouldn't it be wonderful if instead of saying "An application" they just used the actual name of the offending application?
