Samsung Note 4 not recognised by Kies 3, but is listed in Device Manager

When I connect my Note 4 to my 32 bit Windows 7 PC, it is not recognised in Windows Explorer. In Windows Device Manager it is listed, but with the yellow warning and question mark. By Updating the Device Software the correct device driver is installed and it is then listed in Windows Explorer. If I disconnect the phone and go into Windows Explorer once more the phone is again unlisted and I have to repeat the Device Manager process to get it recognised. At no time is the phone ever recognised by Kies 3. Thus far I have uninstalled Kies 3 and re-installed it. I have connected the phone to the PC from different USB sockets (I have not used a hub) and have used 2 different leads. I should also point out that it is connected as a Media Device MTP and has USB debugging ticked under Developer Options.

My concerns are why I have to update the software each time after disconnecting and why it is not recognised by Kies 3. I feel the two issues are connected, but I have run out of ideas to try to resolve these issues. Any help appreciated.

It recognized my Gnote4. It just had to install the software first. Then it recognized it. That is how I installed some old Ringtones that was on my GNote3.

Sorry if I kidnap your thread but does Nexus have a comparable program to Kies?

aximtreo - it would be far better if you started your own thread. I regret to say that hi-jacking my thread does not help my issue and I am very anxious to get it resolved. I am sure you would also stand a far better chance of a reply that would help you.

Back to my original query. I have undertaken some more tests which might be useful if I am to resolve this issue.

In terms of Kies I have tried versions 2.6 and 3 on a PC and laptop with Developer Options > USB debugging on and off. My Samsung Note 4 does not connect with any of these variations.
Each time I turn of my PC and/or re-connect the Samsung Note 4 the driver is lost. The only way I am able to connect is by going into Device Manager and updating the driver. Nothing else works.

I would be very grateful if anyone could advise me on this.

Thanks

Finally got to the root of the problem, but no real final resolution. I have a Samsung 64GB Micro SD Card installed. When I removed it the phone connected to Kies 3. I re-installed the Micro SD Card and Kies 3 would not connect. That identifies the culprit, but can the problem be resolved as I really do not want to keep taking out the SD card each time?

Any thoughts?

thanks, i was having the same issue and after un-mounting the SD card it connected, i also have a 64GB card.

c0ffee_cup and others with same issue. I have just formatted the Micro SD Card in the phone. Settings>Storage>Format SD Card. Believe it or not both Kies 3 and Windows Explorer now see the Micro SD Card!

Sorry folks spoke a bit too soon I'm afraid. It did work the once and let me drag and drop my music onto the Micro SD Card, but as soon as I unplugged the phone then plugged in again no connection to Kies 3 and unrecognised by Windows Explorer.

Sorry to raise hopes - I will now wait for a response form Samsung.

Not much else for me to say other than I have the exact same problem, step for step. I've emailed Samsufnorg help. I'm waiting to what they say but I'm not confident...

I have a Samsung Pro 64GB card in my Note 4, and I have no problem connecting/reconnecting in Kies 3.2.14113_3.

I have a 64GB card in my N4 and I've never had a problem connecting to Kies. Check to see if your version of Kies is up to date.

Might be a dumb question but do you have the SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones .exe driver installed?

Don't know if it could cause it but perhaps the 64 gig card you have is counterfeit? And the driver does not like the card. Where did you purchase your card? Course sometimes that don't matter cause counterfeit products can get into the main supply chain.
Just a thought
