Samsung Notes

How do you edit an existing note in Samsung Notes?
I am on a note 9 running Pie with AT&T. When I double tap on the line item I want to edit, nothing happens, no cursor no ability to change anything other than delete the entire note. I must be missing something

When you click to edit, there should be a selection near the top for either "Text", "Pen" or "Brush". Make sure that the appropriate one is selected.

I cannot click to edit it’s just not an available option! When I click on the three dot it says to turn off S Pen only.
The word edit does not appear anywhere. Really strange. BTW the app software has the latest version.

First, make sure that the appropriate "Text", "Pen" or "Brush" is selected.

For example, if you are using your pen, ensure the "Pen" option is enabled and then you can click the pen in the previous pen input to add or change.
