Samsung pay doesn't work

Have a Samsung S8 with Samsung Pay set up. Doesn't work. Tried it at Walmart, Best Buy, Kohl's, Sam's Club, and 2-3 others. Probably a total of 15-20 times. I've tried holding the phone over the card reader, tapping the reader, holding it at the chip reader. Apparently, the card reader never senses the presence of the phone. FWIW, in 3-4 of the stores, the cleck says no Samsung Pay phone has worked on their readers. What am I missing?
 
Did you wake the screen, open Samsung Pay then hit the fingerprint sensor 1st?
 
Hmm, maybe defective? Does the card reader say bad card read or error or anything when you try or just nothing at all happens?
 
I had an s6 that all of a sudden quit working on readers that always worked. I ended up getting a note 5 and gear s3 both of which work as intended. So maybe an issue with the coil in the phone.
 
Call the bank with the card (s) you have loaded into Pay to make sure everything is OK on their end. Also, may have to reset the Pay app and reinstall your card(s), be sure to sign them during set up. If you forget to sign them, nothing is going to work.

All this is a pain in the arse but it's worth it if it gets you going in the right direction. Can also call SP help number if need be...1.844.726.7297.
