This is annoying. I can download the Samsung Pay app from both the Google Play store and the Galaxy App store... but neither work. I get the following on the Google Play version of Samsung Pay: Samsung Pay - your device isn't compatible with this version. Both Samsung and AT&T are of no help.

Yep, I created a post on this. You cannot use Samsung Pay on unlocked (US/Int)

I swore, previously, unlocked phones couldn't use Samsung Pay. I wonder if that is still true?

And you're right. Any unlocked phone US/Int SP will not work. I know this because several of my buddies has issue along with my brother.

I did a fair amount of research on this and was convinced the US unlocked version would be fine. That's a shame. I suppose it's going back and I'm gonna have to fork over more cash for the AT&T version. Also, because Enhanced LTE Services are also not available on the unlocked version... AT&T NumberSync for my Gear S3 Frontier no longer works as well. Looks like I'm paying more for the AT&T version after all. Ugh!

Note: even Samsung customer service told me I'd be good to go with Samsung Pay on the unlocked version. Guess they lied.

I bought the unlocked s9+ from Samsung and Samsung Pay works just fine. Used it this morning!!

I also used in on my unlocked Note8.

@verks, you're my hero! For real? What carrier are you on? I'm on AT&T. I've seen a lot of conflicting information online in a bunch of forums, including this one, on the unlocked versions of the S7/S8 having or not having Samsung Pay. It was NOT preinstalled on my phone out of the box. Anything you can suggest? I've already done a factory reset three times and failed each time.

Received my US unlocked S8+ just an hour ago and Samsung Pay was preinstalled and works perfectly on AT&T. Key reason why I decided to pass on the Exynos version this year.

I'm on AT&T. I believe it was pre installed but I cant guarantee it as I did not check. I'm trying to think of a resolution for you. Have you tried to find an older APK of Samsung Pay and tried installing it? Maybe there is a problem with the version you installed.

You have tried both the Samsung app and Google Play versions?

Unlocked and AT&T are not a good marriage. I know because I have had a number of unlocked phones with them. I'm tired of no wifi calling, video calling, no enhanced LTE Services. Unlocked phones are over rated. I'm going to a carrier phone on AT&T. If you get unlocked your best bet is TMo because everything works on their network.

are you 100% certain you have the Snapdragon version of the S8+? Because I do and Samsung Pay is preinstalled and working fine.

Unlocked S9+ on Verizon here and Samsung Pay works (except for a small login bug currently being ironed out). I previously had the unlocked S8 and it worked perfectly fine as well.

I had an Unlocked Note 8 on AT&T and Samsung Pay worked fine. I went to an AT&T for all their services and it seems like unlocked Samsung devices lags further behind in updates vs. the carrier variants.

I have a SD845 based unlocked S9+ and Samsung Pay on AT&T doesn't work, I get the same install update and use popup. Odd though, in the Play Store the Samsung pay app's size is just 2.95 MB vs 80 MB on the Galaxy Apps store.
I installed the latest firmware update that has the Intelligent Scan and Stabilization fixes and reset the phone so whatever Samsung Pay app that came pre-installed was deleted and downloading new doesn't seem to work. I'll wait, mostly a non issue that will be solved with a future update. My unlocked S7 Edge (exynos) with UK firmware does not have any problem with Samsung Pay on AT&T.

Re: Samsung Pay Not Working - Unlocked U.S. version on AT&T

Just received the official US unlocked S9+ model from Samsung today and Samsung pay works perfectly fine. Just like it worked perfectly fine on my US unlocked Note 8, S8+ etc. Never had any issues of Samsung pay not working on the official US unlocked model.

Not sure about international unlocked model in US but at least the official US models should be perfectly fine. I'm using it on T-Mobile but that shouldn't matter.

EXACT SAME SITUATION!!! I have the SD845. Unlocked. AT&T. United States. What a mess!!! Now I have to return the phone to Samsung and buy the more expensive AT&T version. I like using Samsung Pay and bought the Gear S3 Frontier... so I guess I don't have a choice. Since it's working fine for most people, I'm guessing a future update for a fix is probably not going to happen.

Wow, the discrepancies in experiences in this thread are ... weird, to say the least. How can it work for some and not others if you are all using the same phone(s) on AT&T? Something's just not right with this.

Personally, I paid more for the AT&T variant because I can't live without Wi-Fi calling at home. It ticks me off that AT&T forces that on me, but I've had an AT&T S7 for the past 2 years, and after disabling 90% of AT&T bloatware, it was a great phone that is still getting regular security updates.

Re: Samsung Pay Not Working - Unlocked U.S. version on AT&T

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! I did a factory reset (didn't restore anything from a previous backup, Google or Samsung) and downloaded the apk file from APK Mirror:

https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsu...g-pay/samsung-pay-2-8-25-release/#description

SUCCESS! I added a card and it looks like I'm good to go. I tried this yesterday, deleted the app and sideloaded it from APK Mirror, but didn't factory reset.

Now I have to set up my new S9+ -- AGAIN -- this will be the seventh time in three days!!! LOL! Thanks for the info in this thread... it kept me determined to figure it out.
@manomic -- I hope you can fix the issue as well...
