Samsung pay or android pay

Both are safe.. but if you are using a Samsung phone you mine as well use Samsung Pay. No real reason not to.

Huh?? It takes literally just a second or two to use your fingerprint. Sheesh. If that's too much for you, get a Gear S3 and use it instead.

idc it's too slow! compared to APay.

Also another example say i need to open another app to gain points from a shop first, e.g subway app, which then means i then have to swipe up again n enter my fingerprint again to pay using SPay, too slow! Whereas on Apay coz the phone is already unlocked it's just a tap to pay. SPay sucks arse, for this reason alone.

So how on earth is it superior?

Y'all are banking with the wrong banks.

lol my credit cards are with 2 of the biggest providers in the UK... one of which isn't allowed. If a major bank isn't allowing Spay but is allowing Apay i think that speaks volumes ;)

I use both if I find a terimal that SP does not work at then it Google Pay formerly known as Android pay

If 1 second is too long for you Idk what to say... It takes just as long for Android pay and here in the US it doesn't work for MST terminals - which unfortunately is everywhere. So its basically worthless for me - I only used it for PayPal and now that SPay finally added it I've abandoned Android Pay. I use iris recognition to verify SPay too which takes less than a second and is just as or more secure.

Just because your bank won't use SPay means absolutely nothing. It's as secure as APay and more secure than using your card. Quit bashing and use Android pay or cash if that's your preference. If your only reasoning that Apay is better is because it's always open that's a losing argument... No rewards, points, gift cards or prizes. It doesn't always work when I tap, no MST, and just like SPay not all banks use it, many of my membership cards aren't compatible, Many store issued cards don't work... Yes, it is superior on this Earth and probably Mars too. It may be a good option in Europe but that's just it - another option to choose from.

The problem with Samsung Pay using MST is that most cashiers are gonna think you're nuts attempting to pay with your phone at a terminal without NFC.

Also, most terminals I come across, now have chip readers, and my cards all have chips. If you attempt to swipe your card through the stripe reader, the terminal will direct you to the chip reader.

So SP faking a card swipe at most terminals without NFC isn't going to work, if they're equipped with a chip reader.

Based on this thread I've been trying SP again. (I had tried it early on and found it finicky at chip reading cards but now it seems better and consistent.)

I'm trying to figure out how to refine payment into one fluid motion. As one person said above with AP all I had to do was unlock and tap.

Now I'm wondering if I have the wrong combination of options. I turn on/unlock phone, swipe up from home screen then use fps to unlock then flip phone over in my hands to tap the back to the NFC terminal. TBH this is not about the extra seconds of time... it's about being a bit fumbly and frankly risks a drop at a drive through for example.

Also sorry I want to be gunslinger cool and just draw my phone and put it back all in one motion.

Maybe if I try swiping up with the option from screen off?

MST doesn't work in UK so no reason for me to use spay.
Also the spay rewards program does not work either.

That's exactly what I always say, not sure how it's superior in the UK when the two biggest features of Samsung Pay don't even work here. Not only that but with Google Pay all you do is switch on the screen and tap to pay, no swipe and fingerprint BS.

I have used both in the US. Samsung Pay at non-NFC terminals, Samsung Pay at NFC terminals, and Android Pay. I use Android Pay a lot actually now due to having a Pixel 2 XL. The only time Samsung Pay may take an extra second or two is with non-NFC / mobile payment terminals (a.k.a "Traditional" terminals)... otherwise I saw no difference. Not sure why you did? Maybe UK terminals are just bad? Idk.

I've never had that issue. Most (grocery, convenience, and dept) stores in my area all have chips and SP works just fine. No directing to the chip.

It's one of the reasons I use SP because the chip process takes so long.

Well most users here are US based so in the US it is accepted more (or basically usable more places) then in the UK. The UK is more "mobile friendly" then the US.

Well then that explains why you guys don't get the "magic" you could say of Samsung Pay. For you guys .. yes .. both are the exact same so use whatever you think is best. Personally I would use Android Pay over there as well since it would work on any Android phone and be the same experience.

In the US you can use MST so it makes a difference in places that don't have it yet.

That's just it though it isn't just people from the US that visit this website, most places here in the UK have NFC terminals anyway so MST would be redundant here. Not only that but Visa, the provider of most credit and debit cards in Europe, don't allow MST which means that the banks also don't support MST.

Yep so for you guys it doesn't matter as much. The magic people are talking about is basically being able to use Samsung Pay anywhere in the US that takes cards (pretty much).

Which explains why those of us on here from the UK can't see a point to Samsung Pay, you also have to remember that in the US most places still don't even use Chip and Pin yet so that makes Samsung Pay useful.

Even at places that do it doesn't matter really. My credit card has to be a chip everywhere I go.. unless I used Samsung Pay. Worked without it no hiccups at all.

Samsung Pay is still useful here in the UK but only as useful as Google Pay.

Yes -- we agreed on that. Not sure what that has to do with my chip and credit card -- but yes we agreed on that a few posts back :P.
