Samsung Pay vs Android Pay -- which one are you using?

How about Walmart, I've heard somewhere that SP won't work with their terminals as they push Walmart Pay. Anyone ever try?

I use Samsung Pay at Walmart. Works for me about 90% of the time.

It works for me at Walmart (sort of) but it can be glitchy. My AMEX card won't work there, my bank card does. The bank card sometimes requires multiple attempts as it doesn't seem to read right from time to time.

It will work at Wal-Mart and at sams club. Around here both of those places have the same squareish older style slider terminals. I process it as Debit with my pin and it goes through every time. I was told to try that way by a sams club associate recently and since then, no issue

I'm a little curious though on how Samsung pay works. As big as Walmart is and as often as I am in there I haven't seen any way to use it. I have used it at one of the fast food places and TMobile but not anywhere else. Is it clearly posted if Samsung pay is accepted, and any websites out there that show who does accept it?

If you have a credit card and you slide it on a terminal, Samsung Pay will work. Hold phone to the strip and it works. It reads off mst sensor

You don't need to look for any signs that way Samsung Pay accepted etc. That's the beauty of it. A few weeks back, I bought daughter something in a mall store. They had a VERY old keyboard card reader. Tapped my Samsung phone on it and it worked like a charm. If it slides, it'll work. The only place I couldn't get mine to work was at a self car wash reader

I do use at both those places as a debit but how do you get it to go through Samsung pay? Do you bring up your card on Samsung pay and just hope it reads it just holding it up to the card scanner or what? This is where I get confused and as most of you say the cashier's don't know either so they couldn't walk me through it.

Bring up the card on Samsung pay unlock it with your fingerprint put it where you normally put it to pay choose debit pin and it goes through

I'm getting frustrated with Samsung Pay. Went to Publix, recognized the card, asked for my card PIN, but then didn't authorize. Tried it a second time, same thing. Ended up just swiping the same card and it worked. I used Samsung Pay at Petsmart right before that with no problems. Any ideas?

It could be a quirky problem with the reader or perhaps the phone was not held in the correct position for long enough

You have to make sure the reader is ready to accept a payment before you put your phone up there sometimes if you put it up there prematurely you will cause an error

Interesting. But it asked for my PIN. This is my second time at this same store I've had this issue, but no other stores.

There are two types of pins there is the one that you use when you put a credit card in the ATM which is the one you would use for cash back then there is the PIN number that some places request in that is the number listed on the side of your virtual card and it actually says it for the cashier

I live in ca.ada and do not have a TD canada visa. So there is never going to be tap to pay for me. Plus Td wants you to use their app instead of the others. So they double won't be bringing their stuff to Android pay. Oh and they are forcing you to use it with credit cards, so debit cards do not work.

It will work with most card readers where you can swipe the normal card. I activat samsung pay, then select credit at the checkout terminal, and then hold the device near the card reader strip. Haven't had a problem with it so far.
