Samsung Pay wiping out cards

Well, exactly one week after factory resetting the watch and re-installing all Samsung software on my phone, all my cards were deleted again. It's the fourth time in about a month. At this point I'm not even going to bother adding my card back until (hopefully) we see some sort of update from Samsung that addresses the issue. I still like the watch and I'll still wear it, it's just a bummer this started happening all the sudden when it worked fine for so long.

Who's to say Samsung needs to fix anything? It's "Samsung" Pay. Not LG Pay or Pixel Pay. Why would anyone think or expect it to work on a non-Samsung phone? That's like saying you're going to keep driving a Ford until Chevy builds a part that fits the Ford. Now granted, if Samsung can make it to work on non-Samsung phones, that's great for everyone else. I have a GS7 and haven't experienced my cards being wiped out.

So I have to buy a new phone to get full use from my Gear S3? No thanks. As I stated in my post my problem is with the Pay for Gear app that is pre-installed on the watch. If it only works if your watch is paired with a Samsung phone, then there should be a disclaimer.

When Samsung advertises which Gear S3 features work on a "Samsung Android" vs. "Other Android", and Samsung Pay is said to work on both, then yes. Samsung has something they need to fix.

I've only had my single Gear S3 Frontier for about a month and have only had two cards added to Samsung Pay. In that time it has wiped out the cards 4 times, and I never know it until I'm trying to use it to pay for something. I just added the cards back again today. Maybe it will last a week?

All 3 of my cards wiped again today. Using a Pixel 2 and Gear Sport. This is getting old.

Well I've had my bluetooth Samsung Gear S3 for over a year and my Samsung Galaxy S7 for almost 2 yrs and I have never had my cards wiped out.

Sadly I can't offer any solution/s as I've not had to troubleshoot any issues. Maybe the issue lies within the non-Samsung phone/s and not the Gear service or Samsung.

Again, I can't blame Samsung for Samsung Pay not working on a Pixel phone. Sounds like some of you have a sense of entitlement. You're mad because Samsung uses the android os just like Pixel uses the android os and you think Samsung Pay should work on ANY android device. Maybe it's time to go with a watch that uses the WearOS? Maybe Android Pay is available on some of those watches?

Have a BT only Gear S3 paired to Pixel XL that I got for Chistmas.

Added one card. Worked great for until about 2 months ago. Now my card is deleted about once a week.

I need to go into my phone go to the gear app, enter my Samsung Username and password and then enter the bot code which is really difficult to see.

This process is a pain because I have a fairly complex password. Also, it is not something I can do on the fly while in a store.

Then I need to add back the card, the app acts like it is the first time I added this card and need to go through the entire add a card process.

Just re-entered everything this morning and getting very tired of this

I have an S9+ and the Gear S3 and I have to put my two cards back in fairly regularly, so, IT DOES happen on Samsung phones. This is not a non-Samsung phone issue, it is a Gear S3 issue. This smartwatch has some nice features but it also has some real problems.

Did you guys have this problem on Nougat, or just since you went to Oreo?

My phone has only ever had Oreo. I got the watch in December of last year. Everything worked perfectly for the first 5-6 months. Sometime around the first of June is when it started deleting my cards.

Yours definitely sounds like it is related to an update.

It looks like it's not the watch to me.

Ever since I've experienced this for the third time, I've started opening "Samsung Pay" in the "Samsung Gear" app on my phone every now and then, and actually it's always showing "Couldn't connect to server" or something like that with just an "OK" button right before the wipe, and when you press "OK" - it logs out and wipes all the stuff. So, I think, what would be a band-aid fix is to decompile that damned "Samsung Pay (Gear plug-in)" APK, and cut out the whole logout function, so OK press would do nothing, and maybe that will allow us to keep or cards on "Samsung Pay".

Is there anyone capable of doing that? Because I'm clearly not.

I have a bluetooth gear s3 and an LG v20 that I have had since mid July. My Samsung Pay has reset 3 times, two of which i discovered as I went to make a payment.

Thanks for prompting me to check my cards, all gone again. I'll blame it on Android P this time.

Alright, had another reset today and came up with a possible workaround that I'll be trying this time.

What I did was initialize Samsung Pay again, add all the cards I want, then disable Bluetooth on my phone so Gear gets disconnected, then removed Samsung Pay (Gear plug-in) and reconnected Gear again.

I'll report back if (of when) wipe happens again. If it doesn't in a month - I'd report back as well. Hopefully this works.

Edit: Never mind, after a few hours it now says that I removed the plugin.
