Have you guys heard if samsung pay will be available only on samsung phones? Or on any android phone?

It's a key marketing point for Samsung Galaxy phones, I'd be surprised if they leased it out to others yet.

I have a Gear S2. The Samsung Pay Beta app works independently of the Galaxy's Samsung Pay. It would appear that you can have MST and NFC payments directly from the S3 using a non galaxy phone.

MST on the watch itself is the only reason I'm considering getting a S3.... Love my S2 classic platinum but the limitation of NFC only is a downer.... I find Samsung pay on the watch, quicker than pulling out my phone

I only wish you had to enter your pin when opening the app instead of everytime you put your watch back on.

I prefer having to enter a pin everytime I put my watch back on.... If my watch is ever lost for some odd reason, at least I know that nobody can use it....

How exactly does it know when you take it on and off? What if you like your watch loose?

Just saw this on the Samsung Site
"Make up to five payments on your Gear S3 without a Galaxy smartphone nearby after initial setup. Reload payment capability by connecting to a Galaxy smartphone via Bluetooth. Only compatible with select cards, carriers and Samsung devices; see the Samsung Pay Support page Samsung Pay for compatibility information."

So it looks like you can't really use Samsung Pay on the watch without having a compatible Samsung phone. I'm going to be getting a new phone soon and it wont be a Samsung phone. I really like Samsung pay and was going to get an S3 to continue to use Samsung pay but now since it wont really work without a Samsung phone i'll not be getting an S3 and going back to one of the Android wear watches.

This. I did an online chat with samsung just today and asked about this because I am getting a Pixel and wanted to know. He said the watch can be used for samsung pay without owning a samsung phone

I think i would trust more in what the Samsung S3 product page clearly states over what a random Samsung employee said in an online chat. Maybe when the S3 comes out one of the reviews of it will mention this or someone who gets it will be able to test it out but until then I'd go with what is written on the website over the online chat.

There appears to be some debate about whether Samsung Pay will work non Galaxy phones. The confusion may stem from the Gear S2 requiring a companion Galaxy phone. It looks like that requirement will not apply to the S3. Others have posted a link to Samsung's site where a table shows that Android phones will be compatible. Here's a link to another reference stating the same thing:
What is Different about Samsung Pay for the Samsung Gear S3? (SM-R760, SM-R765, SM-R770)

Samsung Pay on Gear S3 does not support certain features found on Galaxy phones such as membership, gift cards, and offers and deals. Samsung Pay on Gear S3 is compatible with non-Samsung Android phones, offering Gear S3 users a way to try Samsung Pay.

Haven't confirmed yet. The S3 is paired to my v20 but I haven't found options for Samsung Pay yet.
