"According to a new report from XDA Developers, Samsung might be using Toshiba’s relatively slower UFS 2.0 storage chip in the Snapdragon variant of the Galaxy S8. Moreover, the company has quietly removed the mention of UFS 2.1 storage from its official specs list."

The article does say you are probably not going to see a performance difference anyways but interesting if they are using different storage on the SD835.

To check you can install a terminal emulator (like this one) and then enter the command: cat /proc/scsi/scsi and hit enter to see the specific model number. We’ve mentioned the chip model numbers in the list below.

Samsung UFS 2.1 (KLUCG4J1ED-B0C1): Galaxy S8 and S8+ (Exynos variants)
Toshiba UFS 2.1 (THGAF4G9N4LBAIRA or THGAF4G9N4LBAIRB): Galaxy S8+ (Snapdragon variant)
Toshiba UFS 2.0 (THGBF7G9L4LBATRA or THGBF7G9L4LBATRC): Galaxy S8 (Snapdragon variant)

I think it is kind of a non issue. I don't see anyone noticing the difference between the two.

Whose actually noticing the performance difference if there is one....not myself or average consumers

No one is complaining about seeing any difference etc, even XDA report says that you'll not see any difference in day to day usage. They were just mentioning that Samsung listed this as a spec but wasn't the case in all models. As expected they have now removed the spec saying ufs 2.1.

Yeah another article says only SD 835 but they say difference wont be noticeable.

"It looks like Snapdragon 835 models have UFS 2.0, while Exynos models and the Galaxy S8+ have UFS 2.1.

So what’s the difference? UFS 2.1 has higher available capacities, improved security, and lower power consumption. There may also be a difference in read and write speeds. This could mean improved performance for the UFS 2.1 models, but it’s probably not enough to notice in your daily life."

Supposedly only SD 835 regular S8 variants have the UFS 2 rest all UFS 2.1
