Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ Specs

Re: Samsung Galaxy S8 Specs

I agree. IMO the battery is one of the biggest things that will make or break the success of this device.

I partly agree with that. If the battery is quick to charge, I may forgive the fact that it's smaller. One of the reasons I'm letting go of my LG G6 is because its "fast charge" takes 3-5 hours to get from zero to 80%, which is a hell of a lot slower than my previous Moto Z and iPhone 7 Plus.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S8 Specs

Did you get the latest software update from T-Mobile installed and see if any of the bug fixes involved charging? Haven't seen any video's from reviewers commenting on charging and you'd think that would be a huge irritant they'd note.

I will say forgot which LG Nexus 4 that I had a terrible charge issue too I believe and with a replacement charger it resolved it.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S8+ Specs

no its not stereo. i had ip7plus, is how i know.

Are you talking about the iphone 7 plus? It is indeed stereo. I haven't heard any word on it about the S8S8+ though despite earlier reports.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S8 Specs

Add a second question...why not putting a slightly bigger battery on the S8+??

Re: Samsung Galaxy S8 Specs

Why do manufacturers insist on not caring about battery life?
Cheers

Re: Samsung Galaxy S8+ Specs

S8 and S8+ are do NOT have stereo speakers.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S8+ Specs

There was some initial incorrect reports that it had stereo speakers

Re: Samsung Galaxy S8 Specs

This looks great!!! I hope this smartphone won't repeat the same problem as was with the Note 7..

Re: Samsung Galaxy S8 Specs

FM radio? The SoC's on the S7's received an update to unlock FM radio on many versions, including major carriers.

Does anyone know if the SD835 or Exynos would have an FM capability?
The sd835 does (technically via the "WCN3990 companion chip", but since that seems to handle all of the radio interfaces I think we can assume it's there). Obviously it only works if the antenna input is connected to the headphone jack, but that seems to have been the case with previous models.

I've not found any information about the Exynos and FM support, but I believe that the preceding generation of Exynos processors did not have it, so wouldn't expect this one to.

After the Note 7 fiasco they are playing it safe with battery technologies, so maybe thast why samsung sticked to the 3500mAh juicer. Being a LiPo battery versus a Li-Ion, i see the battery degradation being a little less noticeable.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S8+ Specs

Is it really 6.2"? The curved corners mean it is 6" from a total display surface standpoint. Seems we are back in the old CRT days for speccing display sizes. I would rather have a wider display that was slightly taller than this. Most content is not optimized for the display size and will not be for the normal life of this device.

People have already complained about black bars

Re: Samsung Galaxy S8+ Specs

I'm thinking about throwing my projector and 120" screen in the trash because it's just terrible that it's 1.78:1 and so many movies are in 2.35:1. It just doesn't fill the screen. I don't know what to do.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S8+ Specs

Not the same thing. Much bigger display with projector and the only thing with black bars on sides is 4:3 content.

But that awful wasted screen space on top and bottom on 2.35:1 content. I just hate preserving aspect ratio as the director intended.
