Samsung return kit - with fireproof box!

I Figured it out... it's the water proofing

It's the waterproofing.
Well, in addition to the thermal characteristics of glass. Thick, heavy glass.

Glass is a horrifically poor conductor of heat or anything else for that matter. Sometimes a plus, sometimes a big negative... One of the first things i noticed was the weight of the phone. Hefty, a feeling of quality.

Toss in a waterproof seal that keeps water out and heat in..

Cap it off with 2000 year old battery tech and you get random catastrophic power cell failure.

A possible fix will be removing waterproofing seal to allow heat venting/cooling.

Would you sacrifice your waterproof to keep it?

But the horse is out of barn already, isn't it :(

Re: Figured it out...

If that were the case then Galaxy S7 Edge phones would have the same problem but they don't. Samsung already said the fault was in the battery itself.

I'm wondering if delivery services are making them do this? For safety on the airplane?

Re: Figured it out...

I saw a post on Facebook from technobuffalo saying it's because the batteries used inside the note7 have curved edges. I can't say anything beyond that because I dont major in batteries but the post is there from today if you want to look for it.

They are not allowed on an airplane. The exemption they received to return these states they cannot be on anything other than truck/trailer, train or boat and then in specifically designed shipping containers.

Re: I Figured it out... it's the water proofing

Just watched the JERRYRIG disassembly vid, the edges are curved. Curiously the battery ribbon connector lays on top of a circuit board.

Actually it's the fire tetrahedron

Samsung had to request for a special license for the phones back since they are considered a fire hazard.

Curious - would there be room in it for 2? I have to return my original and replacement. I wonder if they'll send me 2 boxes.

If you clicked on the link you posted you would have the answer.

In my defense, that story was updated several times during the day from when I originally posted the link. Latest update was at 10:00 last night.
