Samsung S20 TMobile version or UNLOCKED version? Pros and Cons...

I use speakerphone almost exclusively, so I've picked up on these things between the unlocked models and the T-Mobile ones.

You're not one of those people that walk around in public talking on their phone in speakerphone are you?

Lol no. I generally don't even like talking on the phone, but when I do it'll be in private (home, car, or office) and on speakerphone. There's someone at my job that keeps their office door wide open, ringer on blast, and uses speakerphone... I never want to be that guy in my life -_-

Hahahaha!!! I don't know why people think that's acceptable to do.

for christmas this year or for their birthday, give them a set of earbuds. hint hint (to them).

with all the talk about the coronavirus stopping people in China from going to work, i wonder how much production has lagged projected production figures?

if they don't have sufficient inventory, where would we stand the best chances of getting our phones first?

i was thinking that financially, it makes better sense to get out of the TMobile JOD plan now, and just use the "purchase option" to buy my existing S10+, then buy the new S20 Ultra 512gb from Samsung.com, trade my S10+ in for $600, thus my total outlay would be $1,000 plus taxes and insurance, etc.

additionally, buying through samsung.com would hopefully ensure a decent supply, especially if one were to pre-order early on and be one of the earlier ones to buy it online.

i can't see how samsung.com would NOT have any inventory while TMobile would.

what do you guys think please?

Technically Samsung doesn’t manufacture their phones in China anymore. But components could still be an issue.

so has Samsung already built up an inventory over the last several months?

or, might we see a shortage if one were not one of the early birds pre-ordering?

most of us here are pre-order types so one would suspect that we'd all be with our phones right away. right?

I honestly have no clue how Samsung handles their supply chain. I haven't seen any official statements from Samsung regarding production issues like other OEM's, so who knows at this point.

as for the 45-watt charger accessory ($50 on samsung.com), we'll all have to wait to get it using our $200 coupon, as we have to FIRST receive the phone, then use the shop samsung app to register in order to get this $200 coupon, AND THEN place our orders via shop samsung for our "+" new earbuds and this 45-watt charger.

the reviews for this 45-watt charger are a bit controversial but this one guy's review is helpful and reasonable, i thought. a screenshot of his rather informative review is attached below.

Only thing I've read in the last few months is that the supply of OEM accessories/cases might be affected. I believe it was Mobile Fun that released a statement to that effect, after being informed my Samsung. Heard nothing of their actual phone supplies being affected.

With the exclusion of iPhones T-mobile devices are unlocked by an app. No need to call care. It's pretty seamless it the requirements are met.
Hi all, have you checked that the GSM Carrier Models from TMo and AT&T support the same 3G and LTE Bands so that they will work on Verizon if Unlocked ?
I know Verizon still uses CDMA for voice and 1XRTT

The Fully Unlocked Model from Samsung has ALL the radios for CDMA and GSM carriers

well, @daswooski, then i see zero reasons why ANYONE, yes, anyone at all, would have to get anything BUT the UNLOCKED model.

why bother with any other version?

i want all the radios ==> therefore, UNLOCKED version.

Yes, I just found an article about the S20+ and S20 Ultra US Unlocked and they have ALL radios. The only one that does not is the S20... It is missing the mmwave 5G
Sooo, I'll be changing my reserved order to the Unlocked S20 Plus.

From what I've read, this year ordering through Samsung, the $200 is an "instant credit" that can be used at check-out. Am I missing something in regards to this?

Also, what you posted is how the Note 10 line of phones responds to the 45 watt charger. More recent data shows that the way the S20 line responds, by charging from 0 to 100% in 58 minutes. So something they did allows the S20 line to utilize the 45 watt charger more efficiently.

@daswooski:

may i please ask where the article is from regarding the variants of S20 and their respective radios?

I would appreciate a link or a heads up as to which site it was from.

thank you.

It was available instantly for the Note

oh my, so when i do my pre-order on Friday morning on samsung.com, as i am doing the pre-order, the $200 credit will ALREADY be available and be able to be used instantly ON THE S20 Ultra phone that i'm actually pre-ordering?

so the S20 Ultra 512gb is $1600, less $600 trade in value of my S10+ = $1000,
then i can use the instant credit of $200 so $1000 - $200 = FINAL NET AMOUNT OWED $800

so my credit card will only be charged $800?

that's unbelievable!
