Samsung S5 car mode gets an error message that something went wrong with the server this works fine two days ago Verizon said it was a Google update I find no updates. How can I fix this problem?

Both my sister and I have the S5 and have this exact same issue starting from Friday night (4th December, New Zealand time). My sister is a quadriplegic and so is reliant upon the car mode for making calls etc - we need a fix!!

Did the phones receive the new Advanced Messaging update for 5.1.1? It seems that this update screws it up. I reset my phone and it didn't fix it. I then rolled back to the previous build of 5.1.1 and everything worked fine. I'm using a Note 4 and am with Telus in Canada. I don't think its a carrier issue, it's a OS problem. We may have to wait it out for a fix.

Thanks for this! I didn't see the update come through, but will see if I can work around it as you suggest. Being a global issue, as you say, def an OS problem :'(

I've been having the same issue since Dec 3rd. It's driving me crazy. Reboot the phone, clear the cache, connect to wifi, all workout success. I do not show any updates to my messaging apps that would have caused this. Mentioned it to my local bestbuy mobile yesterday and they haven't heard of any issues. Guess it's time to get a hold of Verizon.
Has anyone here figured out how to fix it?
Thanks.

I've been having the same problem with Car Mode on the S6 here in the UK since Dec 3rd so I don't think it is telceoms provider related. (I'm with EE here in the UK)

I've just cured it by opening the car mode app, selecting 'More' and then selecting 'Settings' then 'Erase All Server Data'.
It's working perfectly again after that.

I did have TTS Text To Speech update last week which may have been just before the problem started, not sure, but its fine again now so give it a try and let us know if it also worked for you?

So I have had this problem on my Samsung s5...I deleted the Google text to speech...reset the phone....bam car mode works great again....

I was having the same problem with my Galaxy S5 on Verizon. I force stopped and cleared the data and cache of the Google text-to speech Engine (Settings > Applications > Application Manager), and my hands-free/car-mode worked again. I ended up disabling/turning it off and it still works fine...not sure that it was necessary to disable (don't have time to deal with errors again right now), but I'll leave it off for now.

A new possible development. There was an update for the main Google App this morning. I noticed that there were a lot of people complaining that there voice search (ok google) stopped working in the ratings The new update apparently fixes this (never stopped working for me, only had issue with Car Mode) I updated the Google app and restarted my phone. Car mode is now working again. The woman's voice is different, but all works. I'm wondering if the Google app has always been the issue since the new 5.1.1. Update.

For reference, Note 4, 5.1.1. Telus Canada.
