Samsung S8+ Stuck on update for around 30 minutes

[Android Central Question]

I've just installed a software update on my Samsung S8+ and it is currently stuck on:

"Android is upgrading...
Optimising app 96 or 96"

It has been like this for the past 30 minutes.

I have had the phone for over a year now and it has updated fine each time before this.

What I want to know is, can I reboot the phone without causing damage and will it sort the problem?
